This has been the lowest the winds have been the last week hopefully that keeps the fire contained

They lucked out in that regard with the Florien fires, too, really. Winds were similar, but they still lost 18 structures. It goes to show that burn bans are for a reason, and extra diligence is needed if/when red flag days come around. There's just no room for error, and the ceiling on any fire in the type environment is high.

Sounds like a fictional town setting in a Hallmark Christmas movie

The town name is used in a scene in a spike Lee WW2 movie.

Well, most of our border is, in fact, not a line.

My grandfather grew up out there. They had a small farm east of town I think. The house is long gone but I would bet that land is close to the fire.

My grandfather grew up out there as well

There aren't many homes on the NE side of 110, are there? On satellite there seem to be more on the SW side of it, though. Still a whole lot of fuel there.

Is that Spring Creek on maps much of a creek?

Yeah I think you’re right. There’s so many trees in the area both sides of the Hwy that there’s no true break unless it’s man made

All those woods probably have a TON of 3 year old trees and tree tops laying on the ground from the hurricanes too.

Roads would be the best available, you'd think. There also look to be plenty of farm/logging roads in there. That creek would help if it is much of a creek. Wind still isn't bad. 5-6mph out of the SSW, which would be pushing it away from crossing 110.

That was origin of it around noon or little after and was growing throughout evening. Around 6 or so it went into full sprint in a NNW fashion
