Louisiana Tech rebrands womens sports (Except WBB)

RUSTON – As the branding for Louisiana Tech Athletics has been developed and refined over the years, the department announced that effective immediately all women's sports other than women's basketball will now compete under the nickname, "Bulldogs."
"During my time at LA Tech, I have witnessed a growing urge for our women's sports, outside of women's basketball, to refer to themselves as Bulldogs," said Director of Athletics/Vice President Dr. Eric A. Wood. "After receiving the brand proposal by our Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and getting feedback from leaders on campus, benefactors, as well as the head coaches who were all in full support, making this branding change is the right decision for our present and our future."
The women's sports that will be impacted by this change are bowling, cross country, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.
The women's basketball program is not part of this transition because of the rich history of the Lady Techster program built by coaches Sonja Hogg and Leon Barmore as well as all the legendary student-athletes that have put on the Columbia blue jerseys for the last half century.

An announcer is gonna accidentally say “bulldaggers” and get fired.

Should be quite a feather in Dr. Eric A. Wood's cap to get the womens bowling renamed from the Lady Bulldogs to the Bulldogs. This is how real change happens. This is how he'll get his promotion to the big leagues of Academia.

Lady techsters had a groovy logo.
Now they’ll suck with a more generic logo and brand
Eta: just read the article and glad to hear the script lady techsters will stay

Louisiana Tech - Besides LSU best school in the state.

I’d argue pound for pound and bang for your buck tech js hands down the best school in the state. Loved my time there and I attended LSU as well. Ruston advances more and more every time I go back to visit, including the school.

Bitches would be more gender accurate and get more attention than Bulldogs.

Seriously? Have you been outside the state of La?
And yes, I know it very well.

Not sure what point you’re making I’m talking about colleges in Louisiana, in particular comparing the trajectory of Ruston compared to BR.

I’m an LSU grad, my Dad and sisters as well
Both sisters, myself, and two of my cousins are former lsu athletes.
I would rather my current children go to Tech over LSU. Ruston is such a better college experience over BR right now

Zero doubt about it. My sister (no pics) and her family live in Ruston and it is a nice place to raise kids. It has problems but no town is immune from that.

We have hunting property just north on 167, so we are there often. It just feels like a college town should feel
