Growing up, did your mom leave you in the car

Our mom left us at home because she needed a break from us and the grocery store was her escape.

We had a 61’ Ford Galaxy. No a/c.
But we stayed in the car some when she ran errands.

unless it was trip to schwegmann's, then we all got to join in the "fun".

Not for grocery shopping but at the gas station to run in and get a pack of cigs while filling up

We went in with her or stayed at home with the maid.

same. i leave my kids in the car at the gas station too if i'm going in for a drink or something.

When I was growing up, a lot of cars did not have AC. If mom left us in the car, it was to run inside and get something real quick. We had all the windows down anyway and she took the keys. But it was significantly different back then. I would not have considered doing that with my kids, particularly my younger ones.

Yes, and I put it in reverse twice :)

Yes, but no keys. The windows cranked down on most cars back then as we sat and sweated. Sometimes if the opportunity presented itself we would talk to other kids who were stuck in neighboring vehicles.
