Pool people, best time to run filter pump

Reading it’s best to run it 2-3 different times a day totaling up to 8-10 hours instead of running it once a day for 8-10 hours.
For those experienced in this, what’re yalls recommendations? I am new to the pool game and trying to set everything up and trying to do all the cleaning and chemicals on my own instead of paying someone

Mine is set to run from 9am-10pm weekdays and 8am-12am weekends.

I run mine mostly overnight and a few short 20 minute cycles through the day to kind skim anything floating. I have a salt water generator and I’ve read and been told it’s best to run it at night when the sun isn’t nuking the chlorine

I run it on low from 8am to 7pm every day. If it’s not running it’s like a hot tub these days. If I know I’m planning on getting in later I’ll turn up to medium or high with water features going to get water moving around. It may only help 2-3* but that’s a lot.
I do chemicals myself and about once a month or so I bring a sample to pinch a penny and have them just check my work. This is my third summer with the pool and I’ve pretty much figured out what it needs before I test it at this point.

My pool people (all seasons on kaliste saloom) say to run 24 hours in summer is best. Compared to 12 hours in winter. We do 18 in summer and have had very stable water. I can afford a pool guy, but choose to do it myself and am new to this as well. We completed last May. I visited a few pool stores and felt really comfortable with all seasons. Just get a routine that works. Keep water sanitized, clear and shocked. Swimming, rain, sunshine all matter. I have to use algeacide weekly due to circulation weaknesses in our design. Make a routine and stick with it.

Do you have a variable speed pump or single speed? If you have variable, run it on a lower setting throughout the day and run it on a higher setting in the evening.

Mine runs 23 hours a day, everyday. From 7:00 AM to 6:00 AM.

I am running from 7pm to 7 am right now. Ive heard its best for SWG to run at night.
Also makes sense to have the water features circulate the water when the air temps are at or below the water temps in hopes of dropping pool temp a few degrees.
Been seeing 89 deg water temps at 7 am and 91 degree temps during the midday if pool is on when we are in it.
I was told general rule of thumb is one hour of pump run time per 10 deg F temp outside. (100 deg = 10 hours run). Im doing 12 right now. and more if we get in the pool during the day or weekends. so in winter I will dial back the run time.

I run my SWG for 5 hours a day, 11am to 4pm. My pool is smaller (~9000 gallons), but I'm surprised most people run their pumps so often.
If you really want to try to drop your pool temp (without a chiller), you need a fountain or other spray nozzle for evaporative cooling. The only time I run my pool overnight is if I want to try to cool it down.

That's exactly what I'm doing with my sprayers and running it overnight. My pool faces northwest and gets zero shade, so I need all the help I can get with the triple digit heat.

My pool was 93* at 6:30 PM yesterday. I ran my bubblers and fountain last night. This morning at 6:00 AM my pool was 88*. It is currently 92*. My chiller can't get here soon enough.

I follow TroubleFreePool and even use their iPhone app. As long as I keep the cyanuric acid where it needs to be I maintain good chlorine control. If I don't watch it closely it's possible that I dip, but then I'll just hit it with some shock and re-establish control.

This is pretty much my cycle the last few weeks, save for the rare occasion we get an afternoon shower.
What kind of chiller are you going with?

No sure. I just told my pool builder to order me one. For some reason I think it may be a glacier something.
