Spence and Crawford was a great show and live gate but they did shite to promote the fight.
Seems like the fight promoted itself
For people wondering about boxing’s fanbase, it’s very diverse. There’s a reason they talk about who will be the next “great white hope”

He would if he had to BOX a top heavyweight boxer. In a fight, hed destroy any boxer.
I knew it would never happen but I hoped Mayweather would have taken a MMA fight vs McGregor after their fight. That weight class has plenty of guys that could whoop Mayweathers arse in the octagon.
But Derrick Lewis would not destroy any top boxer put in front of him in the octagon. I like DL, hard not to with his post fight interviews. But other than this fight, DL had been getting his arse whooped and was out of shape. His boxing is his best strength and he would look bad trying to box a top boxer in the octagon. It's not like a top boxer couldn't learn to avoid a takedown or defend a leg kick. Most of the top boxers are more athletic than him. He would be one of the worst examples of a "put him in the octagon and he'll get destroyed" argument.

If boxing would ever get its shite together and get the best fighting the best, it would return to glory.
Boxing died when Mayweather and Pacquiao ducked each other in the primes of their career.
Also disappointing to not see Fury-Usyk, Fury-Joshua, Joshua-Wilder, or some other combo of the top heavyweights fighting each other.

UFC puts on awesome fights about 46 out of 52 weeks a year…. From the prelims to the main event most fights deliver and get you invested in most of the roster.
The amount of programming the UFC puts out is unreal.

You honestly don't think having sports fans familiar with, if not downright fans of, boxers prior to them entering the pro ranks was an asset to the sport? Is that really your contention? Sugar Ray Leonard was a bona fide star before he ever drew a paycheck. (He was on a Wheaties box) Hell, that entire 1976 US Olympic boxing team were stars. Go back to the biggest boxing icon of all time, Ali. You don't think the American sports fans wanted to see this brash kid from Louisville, Cassius Clay, after his gold medal performance in Rome?
Now, compare that to today where boxing gets minimal prime time coverage.
I stated that boxing has a lot of issues (decades of Arguments/King chicanery, too many weight classes and organizations), but losing Olympic coverage certainly hurt.

Boxing-700K PPV buys ($50 Million)
UFC- 750K PPV buys ($40 Million)
Both are doing well which I am glad to see.

2 much diving in boxing.
and 2 little of people held onto all the power in boxing, so if you didnt play by their rules, they could ruin and destroy any chance u ever had.

Then Sugar Ray fought numerous tomato cans on CBS, growing his brand even more.

UFC PPV’s are $79.99… more like $60M in PPV revenue.
