Reduced shares for Utah and ASU aren’t near as savage IMHO as picking the bones of the PAC to leave the other two schools holding each others dicks.

But looking at the composition it’s neither top-heavy nor deep, and it’s further recently gotten diluted with mid-majors

I think the Big 12 could be a fun conference with the second tier Texas schools, Okie Lite, the second tier Pac 12 schools and Colorado (especially if Coach Prime can get them rolling). You know those schools will air it out.

Utah has been very good of late in football as well as Cincinnati, Oklahoma state, tcu, Kansas state as well as Baylor. None have been the year in and year out juggernauts like alabama, Ohio state, and Georgia, but that’s 2 teams that have been in the playoffs and another couple that were knocking on the door so nonetheless solid programs. Add in that many other programs that they have picked up have shown historically the ability to compete says that the conference is in a very good position going forward. Yes the acc is better at the top with Clemson and fsu but that conference is looking more like it’s going to fall apart every day and there’s a good chance the big 12. Could swoop in and make a play at some of the acc pieces once the dominoes start to fall same as they did with the pac 12, having already started the precedent of adding teams from the east with the acquisition of UCF. Even if you already exclude Clemson and fsu, That could open the door to Miami, North Carolina, duke, Virginia tech, Virginia, Syracuse, or Georgia tech, who all add something to either football or basketball. Assuming that the big 10 and sec is able to take whoever they want there will still be plenty of valuable teams looking for a home out of that group once the sec and big 10 are done choosing. Again the big 12 has set itself up nicely.

That's actually less money then I was thinking they'd get. But then again, not like they had any negotiating power

I’m sure Oregon doesn’t care about their split much. A bigger deal for UDub

This assumes they have divisions.

They may make “pods” with permanent opponents.

So does that mean the rest of the B1G is expected to get $38 mil to $40 mil annually? Based on how the rest of the B1G currently get $8 mil to $10 mil more each year than Nebraska/Maryland/Rutgers.

Who knew Colorado leaving would be followed by the death of the PAC 12 within weeks.

There's the question of whether the 12-team CFP will still reserve *six* spots for conference champions in 2024.

Exec Director Bill Hancock told me, "It’s too soon to say. The CFP Management Committee and the Board will discuss the future format when it becomes appropriate."

Colorado wasn’t the death blow. The death blow was the media rights deal offered to them which was basically “Here’s $1.25 and go frick yourself!”

No chance this historic rivalry goes the way of Pitt/WVU, OU/Nebraska, Texas/Texas A&M, etc

Probably 5 now: ACC, SEC, Big 10 (plus 8), Big 12, and then one Group of whatever
