Nice little town. Had a friends dad buy the cable system there back in the 80's. Would go visit from time to time. Sold it in the 90's I believe. Hottest crawfish I ever ate was at the Jungle Dinner Club.

Had some good meals at that place… that and the pig stand were great. Literally everything good in that town is gone. I’ve been trying to get my parents to leave for a decade now.

He was a great father as well, unfortunately it caused some of his children to spiral down the wrong path.

Ville Platte is lost. White flight over the last couple of decades sealed its fate

When this happens, the remaining demographics whine and complain that it is race related. Then they are left to rob and kill their own. I don't care what race they are. You act like that, go ahead and kill off each other. We don't need people like that in this world.

Really sad what that town has become. I graduated in 2002 and it was nothing like this
common for small towns with too many section 8 properties

Terribly sad. That's my home town ... my parents and a brother still live there.

But once Klinton gave the Chinese MFN status in the 90’s everything changed for the worse.

This gutted so many towns.

Mine will never leave .. almost 80 though. It's home and I love going to visit them but driving through some areas makes me super sad.

This shooting happened a block from where I live the first 5 or 6 years of my life.

Was there manufacturing in Ville Platte? Just trying to figure out how China getting MFN status hurt it.
