Bossier was a small community of dive bars (the Strip) and was dominated by the Dixie Mafia before the white flight days.

No Mayor can get anything he wants thru the City Council in Shreveport or most other major cities.
But all Dept Heads and Police Chief were selected by the Mayor. Crime is way up in Shreveport and every day City services are still in decline.

You don’t know what you are talking about. There was Barksdale Air Force Base, for one thing.

think you’re going to see more of this in central St. Tammany with the new highway being built. There are already subdivisions being built on both the southern and northern ends of the highway and it’s still several years out. There really isn’t a whole lot in that area and it could be a great place if developed right. I know people who are leaving Mandeville/Covington for a bit of “country living” similar to how people from the south shore moved north after Katrina.

I know 5 beautiful high acres that will be for sale as soon as that new sixty rayburn highway brings in the city folk.

Presque Isle already has 3 Fortune 500s.

I don’t see that slowing down anytime soon.

I’d say Lake Charles and/or Lafayette

I don't think you have ever been to Lake Charles if you can make this statement.

What city has no one in it? That is where I want to live.

Montegut and Dry Prong leap to mind.

Funny you mention Dry Prong. Myself the wife and two kids just moved there. Population 450 in the least populated parish in the state bc of all of the Kisatchie National Forest that consumes most of the territory. We love it and all of the peace and quite. Deer and turkeys in the backyard. Birds chirping, no sirens. That said, it's not for everyone. If you need to constantly be out doing stuff you'll hate it. If you love the serenity and lack of crime then this spot may be for you.

Winnsboro

Maybe. I stopped at a Wendy's in Winnsboro yesterday afternoon and was totally ignored by the "workers" behind the counter. . . .I left. Better service for fast food received at Subway in Vidalia . . ..lol.
(I know, who eats fast food? Was in a hurry and it was my lunch break @ 3:30 PM)

Based on your post history, you should be happy. Unless, of course, this is a troll account like El Gaucho.

Donaldsonville has been on the precipice of the fabled "come-up" for what seems like forever.

This. With the exception of traffic Lafayette is a great place. IMO, for bigger town/cities it’s definitely the best La. has to offer.

I would agree that Lafayette is the answer. But it’s one of those “sharpest knife in a drawer of spoons” situations.

Unfortunately it's still in LA and will never attract large numbers of good paying jobs outside of the oilfield because of this. No big company wants to deal with the LA government.
