I see a lot of bashful comments on here on New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport and deservingly so.

My question is do you think there are any cities in Louisiana that can hold their own and attract college grads and make their city a better place?

Not really. I'm originally from Lafayette so I always have hope for the city and Acadiana in general but I moved away years ago and live in The Woodlands...

I will never live or work there again barring some miracle.

New Roads if they ever got out of the 20th century and let some real commercial players come into town (Lowes, Home Depot el al). That corridor between them and St. Francisville would boom.

I wouldn't say that Lafayette is the best place in the country (by far), but in general it's not a bad place to live and raise a family if you want to stay in the Southern US.

I'd say the Northshore, but the thing that chased them out of where they used to live...will always be chasing them.

I’d say Lake Charles and/or Lafayette are the only hopes left. All others are too forgone in crime, poverty, etc.

Plus the stereotypes with demographics seem to still be good enough to have promise. State politicians will eat on this tho.

Overall, the further you get away from the Mississippi River, the better life is. The further you get out of the state itself or best case scenario.

I would like to say Ponchatoula but it isn’t the same place I grew up in. Crime higher than it has ever been and I can remember when we never even locked our doors.. traffic is insane with so many moving here from
New Orleans and bringing their trashy ways with them. The bad part is they keep building but the area can’t handle it because we are landlocked between I-12 and the swamp. It is home but I will like move when I retire in a few years.

One thing about a booming city like Mandeville, is that it has alot of rich residents. QX 80 in every driveway. All members of Franco’s .

This attracts excellent Medical services.
And they also keep good tradesmen busy.

youngsville would be good if they would get rid of the corrupt, inept, backwoods police chief.
