Everyone seems in agreement he has better tools. Everyone knows BK likes to shuffle to find the best 5. Does he go to OT and move Jones inside, I kinda doubt that, we know Campbell, Jones and Frazier are very solid and all 3 had their first year in SEC ball last year and should take a big step forward in year two. The spot I can see him taking is Dellinger whose never really overly impressed. I think Martinez, Turner and maybe Dellinger fight it out at C. I think Heards got too much talent to keep from taking over at OG pretty early on

Dellinger will probably move to center and Heard takes the guard spot imo.

He’s your third tackle at a minimum and next year 24 season maybe he pushes Emory jones inside to guard

No, everyone is not in agreement on that. I have no idea if he has better tools. For one, I don’t know who you are comparing him to. If I had to bet, though, I would bet he does NOT beat out either of our two tackles. Those guys were both mean, competitive monsters.

Who knows how good Heard will be? As I’ve pointed out in several threads like this, the Rant was positive that Kardell Thomas was going to start as a freshman, play three year, then go in the first round of the NFL draft.

BK is going to ride with the lineup that won him the West. It’s really that simple. You won’t see any overhaul unless there is an injury to one of the starters.

Facts! Well said! We have 5 starting O linemen coming back, Delly was real good before the injury last year, im expecting them to be a top 5 group in the country if they stay healthy

Y’all are loading pretty unfair and unrealistic expectations on Heard. He’s a great prospect but still has a lot of work to do. People don’t understand what our freshman tackles was a freak occurrence. Don’t expect that to be a regular occurrence in the future for true freshmen even if it is a 5 star type of guy. I watched most of Heard’s high school games. He has the body of an NFL guy today but is still learning the game and is a bit raw. He’s a great kid and will do great things here….I just don’t believe it will be this year. That being said, maybe I’m wrong.

Coach Kelly and Davis will continue to put the best 5 on the field. Remember the first game, Dellinger at center, Campbell and Cam Wire at Tackles, Bradford and Frazier at Guards. At that time, that was the best 5, then as the season went on, changes were made.

Mason Lunsford needs to start getting more recognition on this board. Veteran OL that is versatile and has a lot of starting experience. Nearly 400 pass blocking snaps last season and didn’t give up a sack.

Yep, he’s in the mix, like I said, the best 5.
Lunsford has starts, (13 at L Guard, 8 at R Guard and 3 at Center), while playing at Maryland.

Injuries will probably happen as they always do, so he will get a chance to play….

I don't think his comment is funny. The kid said he wants to play LT, and Davis is on record saying he will get a shot at it. Seems more likely that he'd be getting his reps over at the LT spot with the non starters, before getting RT snaps ahead of Emory.

Show me one person who has said this.

He is a great talent but I don’t want to start a true freshman offensive lineman unless it is absolutely necessary like it has been recently. You have the ability to start 5 experienced guys with an extreme talent there as depth. That’s what you want in your o line. I look for him to be like La’el Collins was his freshman year. Not a starter but played some and gained experience to take over a starting job as a sophomore.
