Because I really miss going to a store and looking through actual
LP’s and CD’s?

Yeah, not only that, but I remember going to a record store at midnight when R.E.M.'s Monster was released. Bunch of dudes in line to get in for DMB's Under the Table. Good times!

I'm a dinosaur. And that's a cliche
We had to buy guitar strings at the drugstore.

I live in Nashville and was telling my girlfriend how much I loved going to Tower Records as a kid. That was the Mecca. You could buy or rent movies. Buy CDs, records, comic books. There wasn’t anything in the multimedia realm that you couldn’t score. Sadly it’s torn down and looks like it’s for apartments or a hotel being built.

I miss it too.
When people got together to listen to the latest big album that came out.

I still buy CDs
just got a 20-something CD boxed set in the mail the other day. That and live music on the archive is how I listen at home

I worked at a record store in the early 80's. God those were good times.

Do you not have record stores? I go regularly..

Very little compared to getting your hands on an eagerly awaited album, dropping the needle for the first time and reading the sleeve/liner notes with the first listening

Yeah, I definitely miss going to record stores. Hell, I would even take perusing the Best Buy cd selection. Once in awhile I drive over to the Princeton Record Exchange, one of the last great used music stores. You have to sift through a lot of crap sometimes, but usually I can find a handful of cds worth the $20.

I always went for the bargain bin first, and usually found something. It helps when your musical taste is contrary to ordinary

I think about this all the time.
You appreciated the music more when you actually bought it, held it, listened to it, and put it up.
Just not the same having everything on my phone. I’m just renting the music I don’t own any of it.

I find with streaming service there is paralysis by the amount of shite you can listen to.
I have every record ever made in the palm of my hand using a streaming service and it’s hard to pick one to listen to sometimes.
Back then you had what you bought, you appreciated it more in my opinion.

Nothing better than as a kid going into Blockbuster Music on Vets and buying a CD you were waiting on.
I remember one of the first ones I bought was Live Throwing Copper
One of my favorite buys in there was NIN The Fragile.

The good ol' days, when people would wait in line to buy the latest album.
I remember walking around Blockbuster Music one day, and they were offering free tickets to a Megadeth concert with Korn, Fear Factory, and Flotsam and Jetsam. I filled out the little card, put it in the box, then went browsing around the store. The manager walked up to me a few minutes later, and said "Not too many people have filled out the card for the tickets, so here you go," as she handed me two tickets to the show.
I couldn't go, because I was working on a project for school at the time, so I gave the tickets to a heavy metal friend of mine.
Another time, a few years later, I was there checking out, and there was a sign on the register than said "No, we do not have 50 Cent, please stop asking."

Yup, those were great moments. I will so sometimes to look through vinyl, but the price point on these are stupid high in stores. I'll look, but I turn around and buy online unless I find a fair price in the used bin.
