Family has a property on a lake in north Louisiana. Young baw posts a pic on the lake facebook of 30 crappie. Old baw replied that he was on the lake the past two days staying at the state park and was skunked both days trying to fish brush, baw wanted recommendations. Young baw said "i was using livescope, may want to keep working brush." ---- This is why these machines piss me off, its clear that if you took the video game screen away from young baw, he wouldnt know his arse from his face when it came to fishing.

You sound like the guys who used to cry about trolling motors, then depth finders then 3d imaging then blah blah blah.
Some of you guys act like they're using dynamite and scooping up the fish. Who cares about what they can see with a live scope, it doesn't make the fish bite or stay on the hook.
Lighten up Nancy, new technology comes along all the time. Learn to use it and you'll do just fine or stick with what you have because it is working for you.
As for this
Seems like young baw was acting like half the fishermen I know. Not telling Ole baw crap about his spots but giving good advice about working the brush. Like I said, half the baws I know would have said exactly that with no specifics or given him specifics of a completely different part of the lake.

How did he know where the brush was? I'm guessing he has depth finder with sidescan.
You don't need a livescope to know what this is on downscan.
But livescope absolutely helps once you spot lock and your image begins to smear.
I'm all for livescope. It's been a thing for a few years now and the sacalait population isn't hurting. If anything it's helping remove more from the lake and putting more on the dinner table. Win/win.

I've been the waters of North Louisiana for over 50 years, well before livescope, side scan, or just about any other depth finder ever built. Nobody needs a livescope to know that crappie are holding in the brush in summer.
Mr. Skunked needs to alter lures, color, depth, or get deeper in the brush.

I have livescope, and will say I catch a lot of fish because of it, but I was already a good fisherman. It’s just a tool for me, though, and it mostly helps me eliminate water, but sometimes helps me determine the mood, how fast or slow my presentation needs to be to get the bite I need. But, it’s just a tool, and only really helps me in deeper water. When I’m fishing shallow cover, I don’t even look at it much, at all. But when I go fishing, I like to catch a ton of fish, so I’ll use every tool I can comfortably afford, so I’m not judging others who just want to do it their way, or just enjoy being out in the water. You do you…

I have an old Garmin 93sv that I’m not using. It has has side scan and down view. Can I put the transducer on a wand and turn it so the side scan is facing the front of the boat and sort of have a Livescope?
Thanks
Thanks

Bass Livescope
I don't think its fishing... listening to this googan talk about having to put it right in front of they're face and then saying "he's got it" before he even sets the hook is bullshite. Theres nothing cool or impressive about it. If you want to fill your freezer, fine. But dont go posting pics of the fish you catch via the video game screen.

Why are you worried about someone else? I bet you use the latest technology in your home, vehicle and other places but complain about livescope.

If the young baw couldn't afford a boat and got skunked while the elder was hitting piles in the middle of the lake you'd probably tell him to "spend the money to compete" and side with the geriatric. As great as Livescope is people without it don't understand it's not a given to catch anything.

Sorta. You'd have forward facing sonar, which can be pretty cool. It won't be like livescope though.

How old are you? I'm hoping you're not another boomer giving the rest of us a bad name.
Quit whining like a little girl.

He caught fish and the guy guy pissing in the wind didn't.
But if you really want to get down to it, calculate the price per lb of fish using livescope or not. Gas, bait, boat, rod and reel, license etc.
Just like hunting you'd be better off buying beef at the slaughter house. I love to fish but I'm not against a livescope. It doesn't make them bite.
I like meat so if I want to catch fish, I'm catching fish. I don't need a livescope. There's other means to guarantee that I get fish.
