Life got too easy in the USA, causing self-government to fail. This started happening with the boomers but I don't blame them any more than anyone else. They were just the ones there when it happened.

There are a few primary factors driving the housing price inflation.
One of the biggest factors was the pace of the rate increases. They typically happen more gradually over time. You have tons of homeowners that are sitting on 2.5% mortgages that don't want to sell.

Country is doing fine. Don’t listen to all the noise and quit pretending everything was perfect in the years before you were born.

I’ve said for a long time that It’s the boomers that started us down the road of decline.
From Drugs, to high fructose corn syrup, they introduced us to decay.
-Birth control led to free sex which led to disease and a declining birth rate.
-Deficit spending leads us into economic bubbles and perverse economic practices.
-Women’s lib led to the breakdown of the nuclear family with kids raised by a mother not to mention the The emasculation of men..
-Anti American sentiment combined with pro war globalists- the Vietnam war and the subsequent loss led to a negative sentiment both at home and abroad.
-General entitlement- the boomers never had to really struggle with anything. They started the path to the entitlement mentality with more reliance on government.

I would like to know why the older posters on this board get defensive, instead of recognizing the greed and incompetence of our leaders that led us to this point. The corruption from our politicians that somehow always manage to make millions while in office. I think most of us know that it was not the average boomer (or any poster on this site) that put us in this situation.
I'm a Gen X'er. I have lived through decades of the boomer generation's adulthood and dominance of the general population of this country. During that time, I've seen plenty of political corruption. I don't think any generation is immune to that. But I've also seen a general adherence to the principles of this country's founding and mostly a love for this country on both sides of the aisle.
Sometime approaching the 2010's or so, that started to dramatically change. Nationalistic sentiment began to be viewed akin to fascism. Identity politics took on far more importance then I have ever seen in my life. Anger and rage replaced disagreement and a kind of arrogant utopianism began to dominate social thinking. I feel like I know my generation and apathy would be its greatest trademark. My brother was a millennial and I can say that this demigod mentality seems most prevalent among them. Boomers wanted to buck their parents. Millennials think everyone and everything needs to be reformed.
Yes, there are still a lot of boomers in leadership positions, but even Biden was once a racist democrat. Now he's a radical social globalist. His kind merely take the pulse and ride the wave to greater power. The millennial and Z generations want to force wholesale change now and don't mind tyranny to do so. Without those two generations, I don't think any of what we're now seeing comes to pass.

Has this been turned on its head and is no longer happening? None of the other generations in government are partaking in the activities that makes a politician rich?
AOC, a millennial and socialist, came into office claiming she couldn’t afford an apartment in DC. She now (according to Forbes) has 3 cars, 4 houses, and a 5 million dollar stock portfolio.
Noooooooot bad on a few terms with a 174,000 dollar salary.
So it looks like the trend is continuing, even by the same people that complain about the older generations and their wealth.

Anyone who has the mentality that they know better than you how to live your life.
Place blame appropriately.

I don't know if you can really point a finger at one generation and say they even have majority of the responsibility. It is definitely a group effort.
However, I do have fun with the older generation when they are going on a rant about something, and I simply ask which generation is the one "in power forcing" these decisions/laws on the rest of the country.

It’s less about generations and more about voting (or lack of voting)

Your comment is beyond stupid. The best I had to vote for between Reagan and Trump were Bushes.
That was the time period when the rot took hold.

That’s because WB is one of the ones I’m referring to.

Based on voting patterns, Zoomers have decided the current trajectory.
No one else to blame but themselves for their own future.
quote:
Generation Z, who are currently between the ages of 8 and 23, played a significant role in both of these records. NBC exit polls suggest that 65% of those between the ages of 18 and 24 voted for Biden — 11% more than any other age group.
And in states like Georgia and Pennsylvania, young voters proved to be key to Biden’s success.
No one else to blame but themselves for their own future.

They also spurred rampant consumerism to its logical extreme.
