Dyson brings a lot to the table and gives you a Swiss Army Knife, but outside shot was inefficient in summer league. I think he sits around 2/18.

His form isn't terrible, so I'm not sure what the issue is, but I hope the team is setting up some time for him with Vinson. If he can get over 35% this year, he can have a breakout year, but I'm worried about regression from his decent numbers last year.

His form looks right. I’m not worried about his shot. Hell get to a point where he’s reliable enough on open 3s.
I don’t see him being a guy that even takes 3s off the dribble much less makes them.

And maybe part of that got lost in the statistics. I doubt it explains all of the issue, though.

Yes. He’s really young. He will never be a great shooter but he can be a decent one.

He shot much better than expected last season before his injury. Like unsustainably good from 3. I was really surprised but he kept it up until his ankle injury.

When he came back, between injury and feeling like Willie was looking over his shoulder, he played timidly and his offense was terrible.

I think lack of confidence is a big thing for him. I’m sure it also helped that the stretch where he was shooting well was when the rest of the team was playing well, so they were more open with less pressure than later in the season.

I'm optimistic on DD's future 3-pt shooting. I imagine it will be almost totally C&S for DD...with only "forced" off-the-dribble attempts. (BTW: same thing for Herb)

Last year, he shot 34.3% on C&S 3s...and only 20.0% off-the-dribble 3s.

Jason Kidd forever distorted my belief in players learning to shoot. He went from horrific to proficient. So now I expect everyone to do it. Which probably isn't realistic..

He is. To put it into prospective he’s younger than Brandon Miller and the Thompson twins. I don’t see people freaking out over every little struggle in summer league for those guys

I think he's more likely going to mirror Derrick White/Marcus Smart type of deep shooting. Streaky and will be inconsistent from season to season. Some good years and some poor ones. But that won't stop him from being an impact player. See Josh Giddey.

I said it before in another thread, but Dyson looks like he's spent all of the offseason so far lifting and eating, which is good, because he needed some bulk.

He can spend now spend the rest of the offseason shooting with Fred.

Completely agree on Dyson looking timid at the end last year. Think it was the clippers or lakers game late last year, he just looked terrified with the ball in his hands. He has to be able to play loose, I think he’s going to have an improved year

This fanbase loves to give up on young talent faster than any instead of giving them time to develop.

I don't see anybody freaking out about Dyson's shot. It was certainly a small sample size, but it was just so bad. It's obviously the weakest part of his game.

I think his ability to take and make 3s with some consistency is what will determine if he ever becomes a starter in the NBA.

The one thing I've noticed is that Dyson's shoulders often look pretty tight when he takes deep jumpers. I feel like his form probably needs a few minor tweaks to loosen his arms up.

Kidd put in the work. Dyson will too.

I think he will be fine

Literally nobody suggested that.
