Under Chief Paul's leadership, Baton Rouge experienced significant achievements in crime reduction, particularly during challenging periods such as the aftermath of the Great Flood of 2016 and the COVID-19 pandemic. While other communities struggled with ever increasing crime rates, Baton Rouge witnessed a 21% decrease in homicides and a 14% reduction in non-fatal shootings in 2022.
Proof that even the biggest failures can manipulate numbers to show improvement.
I hope this is the last time they bring in career bureaucrats from Highway Patrol to run an inner city police department.

It’s not like Broome will hire someone better
It will continue to get worse
It will continue to get worse

“Chief Murphy Paul’s leadership and dedication have brought about positive change within our police department,” Broome said in a statement. “His vision and tireless efforts have laid a strong foundation for the future. We thank him for his remarkable service and wish him continued success in his future endeavors.”

New superintendent for New Orleans?
LaToya wants her girl Woodfork to have the job no matter what the national search brings to the table. Of course if Murphy is willing to interview with her in private at the Pontalba all bets are off. #poundtown

Off to DC for a high level security position in Potato’s administration.

So SWB finally got enough pressure from the powers that be. I guess brac, labi, Lipsey and Engquist were tired of the crime encroaching on old goodwood and bocage.
This is a devil you know situation. Hopefully pressure is on her to actually put someone in place that isn’t there solely to fire a particular white cop and placate the more radical portions of her base.

Broome should have hired Robert McGarner back then anyway.
He is one good man but probably the reason he wasn't hired..

Wasn't there someone better when she was first elected but he happened to be white?

I just saw the job posting on the mayor’s website. Everything was easy to read until the qualifications section, when it just went black.

Lemme go ahead and get a jump start on this
Hopefully the next chief actually wears a hat with the appropriate badge on it instead of a “Deputy Chief” one

Yes, yes there was
It wasn’t the fact that he was white, it was the fact that he would do his job to the best of his ability
She wouldn’t hire LeDuff if he applied

Most felt the previous chief was doing a good job, and that the gangs were under control. The morale in the dept. seemed to be good, and ge had the backs of the rank and file.
Under Paul/Broome murder rates skyrocketed to record numbers. The gangs were out of control. The rank and file were thrown under the bus and many left the dept.
Paul us leaving an undermanned dept. Morale seems to be low and the numbers are way down.

He tried cracking down on the street racers and they got him canned. Now we see who really runs this city.
