I don’t understand this signing, there’s better big men out there

Looks like the replacement for Billy. Still need to find a rim protector.

Cody Zeller is actually fine in regular season games when he gets big minutes against non elite big men

I also think he’s at least a slight upgrade over Billy defensively.

Good character. Good teammate. Plays hard.

Probably not who we wanted, but the backup big market got out of hand. And you also have to get them to choose New Orleans over other destinations that had more money to offer (which is a tall task)

Nerkens Noel wouldn’t have been a better option if we picking off the scrap heap?

Dint think Biyombo has signed with anyone yet either.

Great move. He’s a solid backup big man for basically a vet minimum deal. Nothing not to like about this deal. Would have targeted someone like Eubanks or Biyombo but this is fine as the 3rd center. Basically takes Willy/Jaxon’s role. Smart bet that has played in Borrego’s system many years.

Like someone said New Orleans is not a free agent destination. Some players will take less to play elsewhere. Griff is doing what he can.

I don’t get the hate, this is an upgrade to our big rotation on a one year deal that only costs a little over $3M.

Does it solve the rim protection problem? No, but it does help a piece of it. Billie and Jaxson were defensive liabilities and cost us a little over $9M last year. This is an upgrade to that side of the ball for $6M less than we were paying
