Looks like about a 14 mile walk. All down Broadway. Thinking of a trip next month for some AT hiking and a few days in NYC at the end.

If it's hot and humid or there's smoke like today, that's gonna be a long day . Interesting idea though! Would you stop along the way or try to treat it like a long hike?

Why? I walked from Madison Square Garden to Times Square and back yesterday. With the heat and humidity, that was enough.

Yeah I could see fall or spring being good to do it but not July (said currently from Penn Station)

Went for the first time this past weekend, I completely underestimated how much walking it is. Walked from Bryant Park where our hotel is to Central Park and back with side stops along the way and we got in almost 7 miles

That's a good life lesson for everyone - looking at Google Maps in NYC and saying "it's not THAT far, we can just walk".

Spoiler alert - it is that far.

Forgot about the smoke. Would rather fall but trying to get a hike in with son this summer before lsu classes resume.

We would stop and see sight and eat along the way. 14 miles isn't very long for us. Other than we normally walking on dirt trails so pavement can get a little tiring.

The high in NYC was 81 yesterday, am I missing something here? or are you just out of shape?

I assume someone that is taking a vacation to hike part of the Appalachian Trail won't have trouble walking the flat paved roads of NYC.

That’s like a billion lights and crosswalks haha

Sounds rough, but somewhat admirable. A quixotic goal! I hope u accomplish it for sure

Was there over the weekend, I think this must be some tikntok thing my sister in law was talking about doing it.

We clocked in 11miles just going park , hotel, times square type stuff in one day. Did 6 miles the next.

I had ~8 hr layover at JFK with an early morning arrival several years ago. Took the subway to Battery Park, did the Staten Island ferry r/t to see Statue of Liberty, and walked to Central Park then took cab back to JFK. We stopped here/there along the way and had lunch in Little Italy. This was early Spring so weather was fine and the walk was enjoyable.

Plus, you can eat and drink well the whole day is my bet what with all the good food options readily available.

We stay in midtown. 1st day I walk down Broadway to the Battery. Next day walk up Broadway to Columbia/St. John The Devine. Never made it up to The Cloisters/Fort Tryon.

I walked from Central Park to McSorely’s one time. If you’re serious, I would try and work the highline into the trip.

Highline and central park for sure. Not sure what else.

I assume we will pass good lunch spots or ice cream along the way.

Yes.

I have also started in Harlem at the Apollo on 125th and walked all the way down to Battery Park. It's around 8 miles. I preferred that, but to each their own depends how long you want to hike.

Stop and eat at cool places for a break.

It takes roughly 25 mins to walk a casual mile. Maybe more crossing streets, dealing with traffic, etc. 14 miles makes for a long day.
