Heaviest band you’ve ever heard with mostly clean vocals?

And by clean I will include growling/ Machine Head type vocals, but not full
blown Lamb Of God screaming…

Iced Earth?

Weezer isn't the "heaviest", but they are in the direction of what you are saying. Full on distortion guitars with non growly singing.

Maybe some Chevelle?

Gotta be Tool, right?

I know Tool is pretty much this board's answer to everything, but I honestly can't think of a better example.

I'd think it's gotta be Metallica, right? They're my baseline, anyways.

The answer will mostly depend on how much percentage clean vocals vs screaming

Bands like Killswitch Engage, Ice Nine Kills, Trivium, Asking Alexandria, Bullet for My Valentine, Into Eternity, Mastodon, Periphery - are heavy but have mixed cleans/screaming

Heaviest bands I can think of right now with nearly 100% clean vocals:
Tremonti
Symphony X
Iced Earth
Avenged Sevenfold
Have to mention Metallica especially when they came out

Of course there are some obscure bands I've never heard of

Good list…also, as much as we hate them, Machine Head is in there too…some of there stuff is pretty heavy.

Iron Maiden is the pinnacle of your OP, unless I am completely missing what you are saying.

Yeah, and if that's true, then Priest and Helloween also.

+1 for Symphony X

I love Maiden but they're not super heavy, Priest is heavier to me. Than if you're going back, Black Sabbath is pretty damn heavy.

Candlemass, Pantera should be on the list. Evergrey is pretty heavy and dark.

How about a no growls, but no vocals at all? Examples like Blotted Science and Behold... the Arctopus.

Fear Factory, Killswitch Engage

I can't support Iced Earth anymore after Jon Schaeffer became a government snitch

Kind of ashamed they didn't immediately pop into my head. This is probably the answer.

Avenged Sevenfold was another good one I overlooked.

Alter Bridge
Dragon Force
Yngwei Malmstein

A lot of post-hardcore bands have clean vocals as well as harsh vocals. A common trope is what’s called “good cop/bad cop” where the clean singer and harsh vocalist have a call and response dynamic alternating between the two styles. Bands like Sleeping With Sirens, Pierce the Veil, Slipknot, The Used, Escape the Fate, Bullet For My Valentine, Pierce the Veil, My Chemical Romance, Underoath, Alexisonfire, Saosin, Bring Me the Horizon all utilized this method to different degrees.

A big part of it is how do you define “heavy” to you? Is it downtuned guitars? Is it busy drums? Is it sparse breakdowns? Does this song sound heavy or light?
In Friends We Trust

How about this one?
