For the older gen, which was more fun? WFL, USFL, WLAF, CFL, XFL, AAF, USFL2, or Arena?

So many leagues, most fundamentally the same. The outliers are CFL and Arena. I really thought the Canadian league would work, but I was young and liked the newness of the Shreveport Pirates, San Antonio Texans, etc.

I also think it’s interesting that many southern and Sun Belt cities had teams is almost every one. Birmingham and Memphis come to mind.

I’m curious what the personal preference is for those that enjoyed the stints of these leagues.

I loved arena football in its heyday
Was a young teen and my dad had no problem springing for decent season tix
If we didn’t go together, I never had a friend unwilling to come with me
But the timing was right
The introduction of the 5+ mascots was silly AF (every sponsor willing to spring the cash had a “mascot”)

XFL 1 was the tits. He Hate Me was the GOAT. Plus the cheerleader cams in their locker room and the race for the ball instead of kickoffs… take me back, Vince.

It was strange watching a league where nobody else gave a shite but the Germans. Wembley got NFL games b/c of London... But the real NFL fanbase was in Germany.

I was a football obsessed seventh grader during the original XFL season. Went to all five home Maniax games.

My dad probably hated me for that

The original USFL was a legit league loaded with NFL-quality superstars

I’m not old enough to remember the WFL, but that would be next

All the rest are way behind

Original USFL was amazing.

There were teams that could have jumped to the NFL, and won playoff games. Incredible talent, including some of the coaches.

Never went to any games in person on any of these leagues. But watching arena league games on ESPN was always fun back in the day.

The WFL pulled way more NFL talent than any other league.

Four HOFers in Csonka, Warfield, a really old Maynard and Leroy Kelly. Plus Calvin Hill and the Mad Bomber. If the league had continued, LC Greenwood and Stabler were signed for Bham. Danny White started in the WFL

It was the most fun for me because I was a kid and the American's kicked arse all the way to win the World Bowl.

I still think there’s a market for this if someone with money can get the league in a proper state. I hear that’s in the works? It’s a different sport in so many ways, so you don’t need to compete with the bigger field. Rosters are smaller, less $$ to spend on players.

I never made it to a game, but I still have a mini helmet for every team in my merch room .

My schedule didn’t work for me to see a Brahmas game this year. Maybe next year.

CFL was the only one I attended. Went to several Shreveport Pirates games. Enjoyed it despite their poor record.
