I know we gotta win tonight, but do you keep Skenes under 76 pitches and hope Hurd can come in and keep a lead...if we have one.
Based on pitch count rules, if Skenes throws over 76 he's out til Monday.
There are some thresholds set for college baseball pitchers mentioned below:
Less than 25 pitches - No Rest Days
25 - 51 pitches - One Day Rest
51-76 pitches - Two Days Rest
76-110 pitches - Three Days Rest

You pitch him what he needs to win. You hope we don’t need him against Florida. At worst he pitches Monday

You get as much out of him as he can give for as long as you need him.
If we’re up 7 runs then yea we might keep his pitch count low.
If it’s a one run game we’re riding him as far as he can take us.
You worry about the finals when you get there.

Those aren't real, Ace.

Can you post a link to the source for these pitch count rules? I keep seeing them hard coded and with Skenes over 120 pitches a few times I am wondering when the NCAA is going to lower the boom.

If these are actual rules no one enforces it.
I’m pretty sure Cooper threw more than 25 pitches Tuesday and then pitched last night.

There aren't pitch count rules in college baseball.

Bottom line, is we need the bats to show up big tonight. If we can hold Skenes to about 80 pitches which for him is around 6 innings on average and we can go up 4-5 runs then we should be able to rely on our bullpen to finish the job.
The best part is we’ll be going up against a RHP which gives us a better chance at getting some runners across.

The Washington post is going to cry and I am fricking here for it. They can’t handle him being a complete alpha who wants the ball.

Where did this retarded list come from?

Where are you getting pitch count numbers?
Tanner Hall threw 123 pitches in the first game for So. Miss in the regional against Samford. Came back 3 days later and pitched for 30 against Pennsylvania

Probably Babe Ruth Cal Ripken tournament ball handbook for 11U.

These aren't rules, they're guidelines. Some pitchers can come back faster, some not as fast. Skenes has such good mechanics, I would put him on the faster route because he doesn't appear to put the tremendous torque on his elbow many pitchers do.
It still ultimately depends on how his arm feels when he throws today and no matter how good he feels, he shouldn't throw over about 75 pitches.

I mean at the end of the day he's about to be an MLB pitcher anyway and their typical rest period is 4 days which is what he's on now. So it's not like this is something just completely out of the ordinary. I think 80-100 pitches would be fine which is basically what you get out of MLB starters these days on the same rest.

Here is the article that is the OP's source BUT THIS IS SILLY NONSENSE.
It's a weird AI generated article that has a bunch of sentences that are more-or-less grammatically correct but are just meaningless noise in paragraph form.
It starts by saying that there is a college world series limit of 115 and a postseason limit of 110 and continues pulling random sentences and numbers from articles and stories about baseball.
The thresholds quoted above seem to have been pulled from the rules for Texas highschools.

College World Series Pitch Count Rules 2023
This is not a real article and anyone reading it should recognize that...it's a computer generated nonsense that reads like something passed through google translate a bunch of times.
I mean really look at this:
quote:
In the match between LSU and Tennessee for a place in the semis, the LSU experienced pitcher Paul Skenes was given a rest giving a chance to the team's new pitcher.

That looks like some AI generated BS.
