I see people all the time on here during baseball season complaining about the box and how bad it is.

Can you imagine... "yes, I was a Vandy Boy"

It's our favorite sport, and we see other schools with better digs. Pretty simple, for me at least.

At least.

Some don't want to accept it, but Alex Box looks like an updated version of a brokedick early 80's minor league ballpark. Only with a few luxury suites and a nice scoreboard they ripped off of Rosenblatt Stadium. It's bland. It has no unique characteristics whatsoever. Over half of the seating is rinky-dink aluminum bleachers. The outfield wall looks like a Little League stadium with all of the mis-matched ads covering it from end to end. That may have been a necessity in the 70's and 80's when no AD put any money into baseball. It's not now. Especially at LSU.

From an amenities standpoint it is probably fine. But it was boring and bland when it opened in 2009. It's only gotten moreso with the passage of time. If it were any other SEC school's stadium LSU fans would mock it. But since it is "ours" some can't. Just because it is YOUR girlfriend doesn't mean she's not homely and bland.

There is no need to tear the stadium down and start over. Just update the interior to make it look like a modern stadium and not a newer version of a 70 year old stadium.

The outfield bleachers are bad. That’s objective.

The centerfield batters eye is bad. Objective.

Not having chairbacks all the way down the line puts us in the minority of the SEC.

People have problems with the ads where many other stadiums use solid white.

People have problems with the bullpens as they can be dangerous or make certain plays difficult.

People want a berm because what it can mean for enjoying the game with drinks.

Do you dispute any of this?

But the pussies crying about substandard college baseball facilities can be taken seriously…you’re a clown
Our left field bleachers were literally brought over from the old Box where they were installed in the 90s. Keep proving what an idiot you are.

It's been like that forever and people have survived...it's the least of the issues at The Box.

I guess it depends on the domino affect of moving them. Personally, I believe the Box would be greatly enhanced by shifting home plate back 10-15 feet, reducing the size of foul territory and allowing a rebuild of the uncovered sections of seating down each foul line, moving them closer to the field of play. Obviously the outfield fences would be moved in as well creating the space for the bullpens/additional outfield seating.

This would require a shite ton of money, so probably not practical without additional income being generated. That income could come from a hotel/suite complex in LF similar to Dudy-Noble which would print money for years to come. Corporate tailgating for 7 football weekends alone would make it profitable.

Then that’s what this thread is about. The top team in the country with the “beat fans” in the country has fans who want to have (at least one of) the best experience. It’s pretty simple.

Yep, just want the box to look like one of the best and for it to have a great experience. It’s clear from some of the attendance issues even with a number 1 team that the box needs more.

I wish they would still share actual attendance numbers. This year we broke the sold tickets number with Tennessee. But if you were there, you’d know it that it wasn’t close to the number that was there in 2013 vs Oklahoma or 2017 vs State. The record in 2013 was 11,095 and that was an actual attendance and I’m not certain it’s been broken since. Nola vs Gray was a must see.

People can't buy drinks at the current Alex Box?

LSU probably wants no part of going back to actual attendance

We were the first baseball program to redo our stadium so naturally everyone else will follow suit, like they are.

And the stadium lacked imagination and forethought when it came to its potential in the future.

The left and right field grandstands need to be completely blown up. Rebuild them as chairbacks, but have the potential for club space, batting cages underneath. Run suites down to the foul poles and have overhang coverage as well. The concourse needs improvement. The stadium should have 360° of accessibility.

That is one of the worst parts about Alex box is it opened out of date. We basically drug our old stadium a bit over slapped a better roof on it and put in better grand stand seats and added a club for fan experience.

The biggest thing we did was the player/program stuff.

The rest of the box was either normal for the time or outdated already.

This isn’t like we had some cool design feature or something unique or the best of anything fan related.

It would be more understanding if we had the premier place from day 1 in 09 and then others followed and had newer.
