We have been here since Sunday and I spoke with several kids from E.D White who were on the boat. It was some type of pirate ship that was packed with graduates from all over with the Gradweek group. They said that a kid from another school was daring kids to jump from the top of the ship. The Uhigh kid jumped and a life ring was thrown in his direction and it got caught in the boats wake and floated away. They said he then started swimming toward the boat and was pulled underneath and that was the last time he was seen on the surface. I saw both snap chat videos and it was chaotic scene but you can clearly see him with in probably 20 feet swimming towards the boat. While all this was going on a terrible storm came through and the boat stayed out there with all the passengers until 2 a.m. with a single police boat.

Yesterday afternoon I did see two U.S. Coast Guard choppers flying a grid pattern where he went overboard.

The Uhigh kids were staying at the Atlantis resort on that side of the island.

We are leaving today with our group from Natchitoches.

My daughter was on the boat and this is fairly consistent with what she's told me. I was texting her the entire time they were out there.

Wait, you were texting your kid while she was on her senior trip Or did she text you to tell you about what happened?

If my kid were stuck on a boat in an emergency situation, I’d hope she would text me.

No kidding! And what difference does it make? Parents can certainly check on their kids. Geez.

The ocean is vast and Mother Nature is unforgiving. Hopefully the family can find closure

The one I saw doesn’t really have anything worth seeing besides getting an idea of how big the boat was. It just shows a large boat (pirate ship) with a ton of people basically partying. You can see him in the water with a life ring floating a few feet away. That’s all I saw.

I started texting her because I was concerned about the weather, and then he jumped just a few minutes after that, so obviously our conversation shifted. I was extremely grateful to be in constant contact with her throughout the ordeal. It was a horrible tragedy and a parent's worst nightmare.

You’re a good parent.

It’s incredibly sad that he hasn’t been found and the search has been suspended.

As a parent, I would be horrified. Perhaps it’s suspended at night.

It’s getting to be a time frame where sharks would get involved unfortunately

The Advocate article says the water was 16 feet deep. That doesn't sound accurate, but if it is, it's very strange they haven't found anything.

Unfortunately the ocean is huge and it is common for no body to ever be found.

When did he go overboard? I don’t think they’ll spend more than 3 or 4 days looking for him. Survival chances decrease rapidly and it’s a huge ocean. Not uncommon for searches to call it off when they know it’s a recovery and not a rescue. He might bubble up somewhere or he may never be found.

Any idea where that pirate boat go goes as far as path of travel? There’s a lot of really shallow areas around Nassau harbor, if he had a life ring to stay afloat I’d think that he would have come pretty close to them? Very unfortunate and sad situation overall.

That boat looks large (assuming there’s only one pirate boat in Nassau) but not THAT large to where it couldn’t turn around rather quickly. Seems almost definitely some less than an ideal captaining here.
