The SIG Sauer P320 semi-automatic handgun is used by some 1,000 law enforcement agencies from the local to the federal level, as well as being a popular civilian purchase.
But its manufacturer is facing a slew of lawsuits alleging that it can fire even when holstered, even when the trigger isn’t pulled, and even when it is just sitting at rest, lawyers allege.
According to the suits against SIG Sauer, some 150 people claim to have suffered injuries, or frightening near misses, when their department-issued P320 went off on its own.

As I said in the other thread, every single person claiming the pistol fired on its own is also facing disciplinary action from their employer as a result of the discharge.
There are no independent witnesses or video (besides a grainy black and white parking lot video) and no one has been able to replicate the behavior in a controlled setting.
I have serious doubts as to this liability lawyers claims.

Sig isn't my cup of tea. And I consider them over rated crap.
And this whole situation is BUUUUULLLLLLLLSHHHHIIIIITTTTTT
I will make exception for the sig nightmare 1911

I mean, modern SIGs have always had drop safe issues because of the non-safety trigger, but this just sounds like morons who had ADs and blamed it on the gun.

hasn't the p320 been having issues like this since it came out? Supposedly they "fixed" it. p226 or bust

I call as my first witness…Alec Baldwin!

I mean
a pistol at rest, holstered, and unbothered should not be firing.
I said before there appears to be something going on with this model in particular as opposed to other Sig models.
I have a Sig 365 XL, Sig 226 Legion, and a 1911. I like Sig. But I also trust those weapons. IF those weapons started pulling voodoo stuff then I would be avoiding those weapons as well.

The sig p320 is not firing at rest, holstered, or unbothered.

Well, again, there are tons of sig models out there. Please explain why the mean press and corrupt lawyers want to pick on only this model, and not the others.

Because it is standard issue for many depts which would make municiple departments, Sheriff depts, and various other govt agencies co-defendants. Those guys have big insurance policies too.

non-safety trigger
They don’t have a firing pin block and spring like an HK? If you don’t pull the trigger then the block doesn’t get out of the way…no matter what else happens (hammer hitting the firing pin).

Most important words of your quote.
The pistols did not just fire on their own. Something manipulated the trigger.

ecause it is standard issue for many depts which would make municiple departments, Sheriff depts, and various other govt agencies co-defendants.
So we are back to why is this pistol getting singled out yet again.

I see you’re trying to angle to negligence firing those weapons.
But possibly 150 LEO incidents?
Is there another weapon that rivals this number of ADs? Or even comes close? Public or private

Never happened with Glocks, right?
Washington Post article
That’s only one police department

Thanks for your 1998 article.
Glock isn’t a model.
That’s like saying Sig is a model.
Currently they are not after SIG. Only the Sig 320s.

Glock is not a model. You’re right, however the trigger mechanism is the exact same in every single model within the different generations.
And who gives a shite if it’s a 1998 article? It blew your statement out of the water. It’s one department that had over 120 accidental discharges.

Are they firing in people's cars, safes or night stands?

You can say that about Sig and the rest of their weapons. So why are they only focused on 320?
320 isn’t really a standard issue. I have a 226 and that might be closer to standard issue.
Would you buy your wife a specific weapon that has been embroiled in lawsuits for years?
If trained LEO’s can’t help but to shoot themselves…
