Based on your skin, I’d venture to say you’re the original owner?
I am old, but not that old. Dude owed me some cash, knew I liked watches, and offered it. My AD verified it and told me to jump on it. It has been a great little timepiece and has appreciated nicely to boot.
My skin? Well that is just a sign of a misspent youth.

37 downvotes?
I love that watch. I do not like Rolex and what they are currently doing. IMO they are under producing watches to create a buzz and elevate the Rolex into another tier of watch they don’t need to be in.

The Kermit AKA 16610LV isn't what is getting downvotes it is just the mere idea of the thread and starting with a Rolex that did it. This isn't WUS or TRF. Watch lovers are a minority here just like in the general public, there is a big "but I have a phone" contingent in the world. What I think is cool is a thread like this brings out a wide range of watches and produces a thread that would be right at home on WUS. tOT is also home to far more WIS* than I would have ever thought.
*watch idiot savant, it started out as a sort of pejorative over 25 years ago on Timezone to describe a person so immersed in watches they literally didn't know anything else. They couldn't put air in a car tire but they knew every minute dial variation documented on a Submariner and recite all the designations for every Patek chronograph including one offs. Today it is just a watch geek with no ill intent ascribed.

People hate on the RMs but there is some serious watchmaking going on inside their arguably hideous exteriors. If I had three commas in my net worth I would own one just for the watchmaking but not before I threw enough money at Philippe Dufour to build me a Duality.

have you ever fricked up and had a bolt out of the blue almost a day later where you realized the mistake? I just did.
I called the watch in the OP a Kermit when it is a 122610LV Starbucks. I was switching watches and picked up my Hulk and was cleaning some gunk out of the bezel insert thinking about how I never was satisfied with the green color of the ceramic and that the Kermit's aluminum insert was the perfect color... and it hit me.
BTW I think the Starbucks should have been called the Hermit (Hulk/kERMIT) but nobody would listen to me when it came out.

What’s the word on Shinola watches? I was killing time in Boston and went into a store having never seen them. Any opinions?

That gives me an idea for the next watch thread... Post your favorite microbrand watch.

Nothing wrong with them if you like them, that being said there is a significant premium for a watch assembled in Detroit. Most watch nuts that buy them do it as a way to lend a little support to US watchmaking which there is precious little. They have branched out all over the place so they really aren't a watch company now, more like a lifestyle brand not that there is anything wrong with that.
I bought one of the original Runwells when they first opened. I gave it to my BIL who loves watches but doesn't indulge himself. The price was a little steep but that's compared to the average Chinese watch but I could have gotten a lot of watches in the gray market with Swiss Made on the dial.
I did like the Mackinac yacht timer that came out last year but at $3.5k it was too steep for me for what it was. I am pretty sure it was their most expensive piece to date.

Bottom line they are not a bargain and you can get watches made in other countries that represent better value but if you like one and are willing to pay a "Built in Detroit" premium then go for it. If the built in Detroit angle is a big part of the allure for you then you may way to investigate exactly what that means because they can not use Made in US legally, it really fits into the standard assembled in the US from foreign and domestic parts label and it isn't really heavy on domestic parts. There are doing more than all but a tiny few US watchmakers and they are doing it on the more budget end.
Below is a list of US watchmakers each with varying amounts of US involvement and before you buy from anyone of them for that reason do a little research to get a feel for if you want to support them>
RGM this is the closest thing to true manufacture we have in the US, expensive but can be highly custom with a high degree of handwork
Vortic they rebuild and redesign old US made watches. They got sued by Hamilton (Swatch Group) for leaving the hamilton name on the watches they refurbished... they won but it was a protracted fight. Good people.
DuFrane inexpensive watches assembled in Austin
Weiss built in L.A. with US cases and dials
Vaer inexpensive watches with some US assembly
Pelton another Detroit assembled watch with Swiss parts
Kobold I mention this because it is US but I would not buy from them if you are interested in them research before you buy
Detroit Watch Company you guess it another MI brand US assembly with Swiss parts
Not a fan of Dave Portnoy but he has a US assembled with foreign (Swiss and Asian) parts watch brand called Brick

Love the 126610LV. Thinking of upgrading my 16610 to one. I really like the new shade of green released this year. I may just go for a 126610LN, though. Either way, I'm sure I'll be waiting at least a year from my AD, if not longer.
These are the types of posts that make the OT great.
