This is not a prank. This is something this person deserves to suffer for. You don't pretend to pour gas on a car or a person and light them on fire. There are some things you simply should never do. Shooting someone for that is in play imo.

If someone attacked my car and I though they were pouring gas on the car, I would also assume that they were about to light the gasoline. I would not hesitate to shoot to stop the attack.
I tend to think the prank would have to be fake.

Teenagers and even people in their early 20s are stupid. We did stupid shite at that age, nothing like this. This is dumb. Pretending to pour gas on someone's vehicle?
There are pranks and then there are PRANKS.
Putting a rubber snake that looks real on the hood of a vehicle is a prank. Pooring gasoline in someone's truck (even if its just want, making the owner assume its gas) can be considered vandalizing property. Putting someone in harms way, etc.
