I'm conflicted. I like the power of pushback but detest cancel culture.

Some people take larger risk than others.

Sounds like the truth is probably halfway between bad management and idealistic landlord.

By that logic, do you avoid places with guns? Since you don’t like guns.

cancel culture.

This is not cancel culture. It’s voting with dollars

Cancel culture is contacting someone’s employer because you don’t like that they’re a conservative and trying to get them fired, for example

Boycotts are different

The landlord has the right, but I would have preferred if he left her alone and she had to shut down because people just quit patronizing the business.

Was her actual event anything of egregious nature?

Or just some mediocre lip syncing while you are busy at church anyway?

Everyone has a choice but hard to celebrate a neighbor losing their business because of an average drag brunch one time. If she’s going over the top political then so be it but your average drag brunch is pretty ho hum and there are a dozen other meal times to potentially go there unaffected in any way.

I don’t think this place was ever busy. I think this is all a money grab. Stir up controversy to get money, ie the drag show. When that didn’t work, she posted that they were closing. Now she’s saying it was because of the landlord increasing rent by a few hundred dollars? The ticket to the event was 75/person. If it was sold out, then what happened to the money? Fishy all around.

It sounds like the owner was delinquent on her bills to the land owner and is using this as the line for why he forced her out.

Don’t have an issue with an adults only drag show. But it sounds like there’s more at play than that only.

If she is a new transplant to the community i dont care as much. Small town usa just doesnt want that around them. Like it was said earlier. Read the room. The I dont understand the backlash routine gets old

Which is probably why they were taking a shot at a new revenue stream and that ended up breaking their back

Yeah but a boycott has this element of actively encouraging others to vote with their dollars the same way and berating those that don't. I guess I'm a live and let live guy just don't shove it down my throat.

She was going to lose the business regardless—she admits she didn’t have money to fund it.

Not everyone is an evangelical conservative so don’t know why you’re talking about church?

I will celebrate each and every time a gay, trans, drag democrat activist fails. They brought the fight (culture war) to us, specifically the MSM’s anti-Trump rhetoric since 2015.

They can live with the consequences of their actions
