horrible way to die
“I think once you see the police report, you’re going to see how horrific this was and how it was described to me,” Skrabanek said. “Her getting caught into this freezer and trying to beat on the door until her hands were bloody. There was blood all over the door and then she collapsed into a fetal position before freezing face-first to the floor.”

Arby's has ALWAYS tasted weird to me. Just can't do them.

I'm trying to think of what I'd even do if I found myself in this situation. Only hope would be to break the fans or something to maybe shut the freezer off? What an awful way to die

Was she the only one working?
Seems like you would at least have another employee there with you.

I think all cooler and freezer doors are supposed to have latches that cannot lock anyone inside. The inside handle should open it no matter what. I think even if it has a padlock on the outside latch.

It's jsut a guess but I'd say prolonged exposure to extreme cold.

mean obviously a terrible situation all around but why would you ever go in a freezer you can’t open from the inside if you are alone at the restaurant?
I believe the manager who died and her son were sent from TX by corporate to help unfrick this location. She might not have been in town long enough to learn that the freezer door was broken.

Yes. Location has been a disaster since inception. Dining room rarely opened, including that day.

This would be the way to get out alive. Most of these places have remote monitors that detect when the freezer goes down. Hopefully a tech would arrive to fix it before you are stuck too long. Those companies are more worried about product than their employees, so they probably have a company on standby 24/7.

Nope. The sole remedy will be workers compensation death benefits as it relates to the employer Arby's.
Now if they can prove a design defect or some type of product liability they may obtain a judgement from the manufacturer of the freezer.

I worked in a grocery store as a stock clerk. The people in the butcher department were weird - think Texas Chainsaw Massacre folks. I think they were all related and never associated with the rest of us. One Sunday, I went into their freezer for the first and only time because they didn’t work Sundays. I think I was one of the few “regular” employees to ever go in there. The door closed behind me but that was no big deal because the regular grocery freezer did the same thing. When I went to leave, I realized there was no door knob or handle, just an empty hole where it used to be. No one knew I was in there so I sat down to think what to do (this was way before cellphones). As I was sitting there, I noticed a metal bar with a metal ball on the end and it was leaning against the wall by the door. I put the rod into the hole in the door and pushed it and the door popped open.
It was a scary few minutes but I feel kind of guilty because my dad said he’d probably have gotten to retire earlier if I died and he sued the store or at least he’d get discounted steaks for life.
