Do you dress to match your financial status?

During the week. 100%.
Slacks, polo (tucked obviously), nice belt, quarter zip, only a wedding band, nice watch, overpriced shoes.
On the weekend... If I'm not leaving my small town, I dress like a panhandler. Worn out flip flops, basketball shorts, usually a long sleeve shirt with the sleeves rolled up and a few holes in it.
The excuse has always been comfort, but I was watching a video this morning filmed in the '50s of just men working outside. Doing construction, digging ditches, and they were dressed well.
My grandfather wore a set of coveralls everyday of his life, I think I've reached the point where even that might be preferable

Absolutely not. Workout shorts and a tshirt 90% of the time. Only time I even remotely dress up is going to the office once a month or out to dinner with the wife.

Dry fit shirts didn’t exist in 1950

Jeans/slacks and a collared shirt to the office. Khaki shorts and t shirt when working from home. Gym shorts and a lesser quality t shirt when doing stuff around the house.
At bare minimum I put on jeans and a nice t shirt if venturing out for anything other than quickly grabbing shite from the store.

Stay at home dad here. Flannel pants, t-shirt, baseball hat all day, every day. Jeans (maybe) if I'm running errands.
Life is good.

What does a dirty mink coat and striped slim corduroys with a purple fedora say about my wealth?

At work, usually business casual. On my own time I always wear long pants and a shirt with a collar if I'm out in public. We have clients who wear shorts and t shirts to appointments and I'll never understand that. How you dress plays a huge role in people's attitude toward you.

Even if I were filthy rich, I'd still wear nike shorts and tshirts
I'm trying to be comfortable, not show off to people I don't care about

hell no
i wear frc during the week instead of slacks and a dress shirt. i hate having to dress up and despise even more having to put on nomex overalls if i have to go into the field.
much rather wear long sleeve frc tshirt and frc jeans
outside of work, just around town, gym shorts nad tshirts. now if going somewhere ill wear nice shorts and nice polo and look nice. but i dont do slacks and button down very often. more of a jeans and shorts guy.

Yeah, but it sucks wearing a tux all day every day.

Pretty much the same. If I'm going to the office I dress appropriately. If I'm working from home or just lounging, I'm full relaxed with my wardrobe. Plenty of times I'll just throw a polo on with gym shorts and flip flops for zoom meetings.
