James Bishop shot on half the GW possessions last season. Dude was a complete ballhog.

Idk if this guy gets double digit minutes a game in conference this upcoming season if I’m being honest.

I just got a call from the ticket office asking me to renew my season tickets. Saddens me to say I don’t think I’m going to do so. Just can’t get myself to feel very optimistic about this next season

We were desperate for another big guy. To be truthful at this point, just about any big man. I think this guy looks much better than what I was expecting. It kills me how everyone makes it about scoring. Every basketball team needs team players who will provide rebounds and defense. Is it a bonus if they can score also? Sure but we don't need it. We already have guards and wings who will provide improved scoring as well as a center who can shoot the three like KJ. What we will have a lack of is defense with our small guards. Our bigs will have to do a much better job of rim protection than last year if we hope to improve. You never know until the season starts but Hunter Dean looks like he can do the job. Be thankful McMahon was able to get someone of his ability. It could have been much worse.

I understand the skepticism here, but this kid has really good, quick feet for a big interior player. We could have gotten worse, so very interesting prospect, and nice pick and roll game…

One thing we can say is that our incoming transfers are more offensively skilled than last years group. We may not be as athletic or as good defensively this upcoming season , but I can just about guarantee y’all that scoring the basketball will be much easier for this group to accomplish than last years.

The question is, does being more skilled on offense make a team better automatically or not?

Well I would hope so. What did we win last year 2 regular season sec games?

Just the fact that our point guard and shooting guard play will be night and day better and the fact that we have scorers should make us better.

We need mwani to be healthy and take the next step offensively so that we can keep him on the court for his defense.

We already know that wright and cook will be better scoring guards than any we had last year

Let’s face it. The only way we get back into contention is thru NIL.

Looking at those highlights, is it just me or does he not really look like he is 6'10"?

he's a 5th year guy from a small school with below average stats, adjust your expectations accordingly. Hope for solid minutes off the bench and anything past that would be lagniappe

you realize anyone could throw together a 1:29 of Justice Hill highlights from last year that make him look pretty good?

It would be tough to be worse defensively than LSU was this past season. But if they are, the bottom of the SEC is LSU's likely destination once more unless the offense is just unbelievably good.

I don't think the roster, on paper, sets up to be a tremendous defense (like Wade's final LSU team). But LSU doesn't need to be "tremendous" to be better than last season. There is ZERO reason why this roster can't be at absolute worst, a top 100 defense. That's still not good by any means, but it would be significantly better than last year's group.

It's going to be on McMahon to get the defense (and offense) improved. I think a big reason for last year's poor performance is he just didn't know what style of play best fit his roster vs. SEC competition and his lack of major conference experience made him hesitant to try to adjust his approach during the season. While the roster wasn't top of the SEC good, it sure as hell shouldn't have been bottom of the league bad.

The pessimist says McMahon is horribly overmatched at this level of play and this upcoming season will only serve to confirm that.

The optimist says McMahon learned a ton through last year's brutal season and now with a year's worth of experience and tough lessons learned he's better equipped to attack major conference competition.

Completely different skill sets and roles. Reed is much more of a perimeter player who slashes and drives like a trendon watford type. Dean is an inside 8 ft back to the basket or putback guy. Idk what your deal with reed is, but they aren’t comparable. Reed also gets more playing time.

Yeah I'm sure a bunch of G5 transfers are going to compete in the SEC. Seems like we tried that last year. McMahon is a joke.

Hope I'm wrong, but I agree with you.

Kj was an all SEC player from a mid major. Which is what I assume you are referring to by G5 transfer. Hannibal player 2 years at South Carolina before going to Murray state after his coach was let go. I don’t think the point that was correlates to the result from last season.
