Worst injury you've seen on a course?

One time years ago, when I was young and drunk, I gave myself a nasty concussion by jumping off the cart way too soon. I put my sticks down for awhile after that. But not the beers.
Then I had a pretty good streak of not hurting myself until today I accidently smashed my ankle (medial malleolus) with the head of my wedge. So I got that waiting for me in the morning, which is nice.
What's the worst injury you've had/seen on the golf course?

I was around 14 years old playing the back 9 on the old Highland Golf Municipal Golf Course (Charley Boswell-look him up for fun) in Birmingham.
I’m old 12 fairway down by Claremont Avenue when a man flipped a golf cart on himself on the hill by 16. The fire department came and put an air splint on his leg.
Carts will turn over. That course was hilly. Short, but lots of uneven lies. They redesigned it several years ago, it is nice, but I miss the old highland.

At the old 9 hole course in Hahnville years ago, saw a lady get hit in the forearm with a guys tee shot. Her arm swole up quickly and she was in a great deal of pain. X-rays showed a pretty ugly fracture.
Surprised more people didn't get hurt out there, some of the fairways were shared between holes heading in opposite directions and the tee boxes were right next to or behind the greens.

My buddy has a picture of a paratrooper that got blown onto a course he was playing, broke his leg and had a few other injuries. Looked pretty rough.
I know another guy that got hit in the head with a ball and got a bleed. He’s fine now though.

I worked at a Country Club in Southlake Tx when I was just out of high school. Number 18 has a bunch of mowed moguls and the cart path weaves in and out of the moguls. I was prepping for a tournament taking something around to some holes, and decided the quickest path was a straight line. Came over one of the moguls and saw a slight runoff/drainage ditch at the bottom of the mogul. Locked up the brakes but with the morning dew, all that did was spin me sideways where the driver side wheels landed perfectly in the drainage area and launched me out of the cart landing perfectly on my tailbone. My back has never been the same after that.
TLDR: I broke my arse on the course.

Worked at Athens CC back in my college days. We had several carts that didn't have reverse beepers. One lady puts her foot on the gas and cart was in reverse, she runs into a rope that was connect to those metal stakes to hold it in the ground. The metal stake comes loose and goes right in one cheek and out the other side. They took her to the hospital with the stake pierced through her mouth. Needless to say, we got new carts shortly after.

In 1997 I suffered an injury on the LSU course that will never recover from.
I show up for an afternoon round trying to squeeze in at least 9 before a rain storm. Normally, when by myself as a student I would just walk but today I decided to rent a cart so I wouldn't get caught in the rain.
I was flying through the round and made it to like hole 6 or 7 (can't remember) heading back towards Nicholson and ran into a group of 4. They offered to let me play through which I gladly accepted and just piped one down the fairway.
As I was driving to my ball I had already grabbed by iron for the approach shot and noticed the group of 4 in front of them all around or on the green I was going to be hitting into so I decided I was just going to pick up the ball and jump them, heading to 9 and try to squeeze in as much as I could on the back 9.
Right hand on the wheel, also holding my iron, full speed, reach down to just scoop on the ball on the drive by and I fell the frick out of the cart. Broke my shaft in the process, cart rolled probably 15 yards ahead of me, the entire group on the tee box was hysterically laughing and mocking me and my price was shook forever.
I havent been the same since and not sure I will ever recover.

Not an injury, but while working at that course, one of the cart guys was an illegal hispanic and scared to death of getting deported. The cart barn was on top of a hill that led down to 18 which was an island green. Cart guy forgot to put the cart brake on and I watched the cart accelerate down the hill and fly into the pond. Hispanic dude just knew he was getting deported over that one. he was down to his underwear in the pond trying his damndest to get the cart out. No clue what his plan was, but you're not rolling a cart an inch in a pond.

Playing Howell park one day with friends, get to hole #6 and a guy was laying on the tee box almost blue. His friends was saying his chest was hurting but he would be ok. My friend insisted that they call 911 because he maybe was having a heart attack. They said he had one before but he didn't think he was having another one. After some persuading, they called 911. The funny(or sad) part is the 2 guys behind us came up and asked what was going on. They said ok and teed off not more than 10 feet from his head and said hope he will be ok. 5 days later, I say him playing and asked how he was doing. He said it was just a mild heart attack but I will be ok. He would do a twirl with his club at the top of his swing and hit the ball so straight.

Buddy of mine (played for TCU at the time) was rehitting a flop shots on the course. I took a thinned golf ball to the sternum from about 5-6’ away while watching.
Countless wedge to ankle injuries. I watched a kid have a terrible knee injury in a golf tournament walking up a steep slope in morning dew. Leg definitely was the other direction.
Friend of mine got hit by TW at the memorial in mid 2010’s. Got a signed glove and I think he got the ball at the end of the hole (# 9)

Was paired up with a random twosome at the RTJ course in Auburn about 15 years ago. Two young guys in town for the lsu/AU game. Passenger has his right foot dangling out of the cart as he’s talking to his buddy and we are approaching a wooden bridge. Driver is going full speed and the guys foot catches the front edge railing of the bridge and completely snaps backwards and exposes his bone and is dangling by tendons and ligaments only. Guy is emitting blood curling screams and clutching his leg. His buddy is panicking and about to pass out at the sight of it. I call 911 but have no clue of the address or nearest street names. Just trying not to lose it on the operator. I wrap his foot up in a golf towel and they haul butt back to the clubhouse. Took me about 30 minutes to calm down and continue playing. Still think about it when I see people hanging their foot out the cart.

a high school buddy of mine tore his ACL jumping off of a moving cart.
He had already injured it in football but did not need surgery. Needed surgery after that round

Two,
I broke a Vertebrae in my neck playing the Senator Course on the RTJ Trail. I continued to play golf two more days and then I had to have a spinal fusion when I returned.
I saw 2 Japanese men in a cart side off the side of a wet fairway on Kapalua Plantation course. They fell over 25 feet and were seriously injured.
They were warned by the Marshall, but didn't understand what he meant.
