Any of you old timers remember this band from the 80's ?

Guadalcanal Diary - They were around the same time as REM, and also from Georgia.
They had a great sound that was a little edgier than REM.

Remember the band, can't remember a single song of theirs though. Same with The Alarm.

Yes, but didn't care for them. Got played often on WTUL.

Saw them at the Chimes back in the day. Walking in the Shadow of the Big Man is a great album, I still listen to it sometimes. 2x4 that you posted is when I stopped listening to them, it wasn't very good.

Come on mane, Strength, Sixty Eight Guns, Rain in the Summertime, The Stand, Rescue Me, Sold Me Down the River..
If you were at LSU mid 1980s, and went to Murphy's in '85-'86, or any rave club like Xanther's or Kingfish..you've danced to The Alarm's 'Strength'

I just watched it on Youtube... I am so glad I missed that era. It's like an extremely shitty cover of a Billy Joel or Cure song. I cannot believe this was played at Murphy's (which was only open for a few months after I showed up after Ben Wynn.) I saw military themed song titles and had hope, and I was disappointed to say the least.
But, I shall remember them for the suck that I inexplicably chose to listen to just now.

The Cult's 'She Sells Sanctuary', The Cure's 'Disintegration', Charlie Sexton's 'Impressed', Billy Idol's 'White Wedding',etc were much better similar veined songs of the same era.
The Alarm were limited..Sixty Eight Guns their best known tune.

Liked them a lot at the time

Yep, loved Watusi Rodeo.
If you grew up in Houston and Texas in the 80s there was another band, the Judy’s, who were pretty big on the alternative/skater scene and had some fun songs. Seeing this reminded me of them.

One of my favorite bands and still listen today. I have all the albums still. I saw them at least twice. Once was at Tipp's and another at Murphy's, I think.
Most people know Watusi Rodeo, but Always Saturday actually got more MTV exposure, and is probably their most competent song. Vista comes up on my mixes and I am not unhappy about it.

In the 80's, The Alarm was a cheap man's U2 but they do have some decent songs.

Come on down made me irrationally angry.

I am the same, but just happened to find one of my music hard drives that had their albums on it a few weeks ago. Pretty solid band.
I also found all of 10,000 Maniacs albums on the same hard drive. Natalie Merchant is one great singer.
