I had business event in New Orleans in March spending over $1500 dollars on food and lodging. I got a letter today showing my car in the photo saying I was doing 25 in a 20 at 3:58 pm by warren eastern on canal. No one in sight. No dangers. If it was school zone sure did not show it.
I will spend $1500 somewhere else in the future. I am posting this to warn others who may make it that far into town without getting mugged to let you know to not lower your guard. It is good to know they are using cameras to clean up crime like speeding. Meanwhile …………

The small range they have these set to is such bullshite. If someone is double digits over.. sure, whatever, but 99% of cops wouldn't write that shite.

The penalty for going 25 in 20 is higher than attempted murder in New Orleans.

a cop signed off on it or they wouldn't send it.

If they are anything like BR red light cameras they are not worth the paper they are printed on. I round file them all the time.

Especially considering that Cantrell ran on the promise of getting rid of all speeding cameras, and then not only failed to do so, but actually lowered the threshold speed at which the cameras are programmed to generate tickets in school zones from 26 mph to 24 mph.

When I first moved here I got one for going 39 in a 35. Just don’t pay it, you’ll be fine.

As someone who used to live in New Orleans & now lives in Texas, I refuse to drive my own vehicle in New Orleans. I am fortunate in that I just fly in, take a Cab or Uber from the airport to downtown or Uptown or wherever I am staying & use Uber or Cab in the city if I need to. There is just nothing good that can come from driving your own vehicle in New Orleans.

I'm pretty sure those camera tickets are bullshite and you don't even have to pay them. If you don't get a court date to defend yourself then it's bullshite. The city/county/state sells the rights to companies but at the end of the day they have no jurisdiction. They make tons of money knowing full well that a lot of people will just tear it up when it comes in the mail but plenty of Dudley-Do-Rights will pay it as soon as they get it.

I’d pay it when they arrest a few of those little bastards breaking into cars and car jacking. Until then, kick rocks….

In BR they don't do anything. In Nola they'll boot your car if you park on the street.

I got ticketed for this also on Canal and disputed it and had a hearing. They had my vehicle on camera early in the morning. I told the hearing officer/ judge whatever she was, who looked like a typical liberal butch, that it wasn’t me, that I came from a huge swinger orgy party and someone must have taken my vehicle to get breakfast that morning.

I told them to show a picture of the driver and they said they don’t do that for privacy reasons. I told them I’m innocent then until they prove it was me driving. I said this woukd get laughed out of a criminal court. She said this was a civil matter and she found me guilty. Complete bs.

This is nothing but a money grab. I told them I wasn’t paying crap and good luck collecting it.
