The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

The good -
Past coaching situation was toxic. That is over. Thank God. Next play.
Coach W held things together. No players have opted out. They prepared well considered the circumstances.
The team showed up ready to play from the get geaux.
Defense did enough to win this game like the first games
MVB can develop into a weapon as did Jayden Daniels. Not saying is good but good. Do not pay 2 million for someone else. He has not been given opportunity yet to develop. He could, Also, he was fun to watch and it is supposes to be entertaining.
22 is very good. He made the Oline look better than they are.
The team played hard until the end. That was impressive.
The bad
First half offense looked like the first 8 weeks.
The decision to try to score at the end of the first half rather than running the clock down and go into halftime down by only 7 was bad. Coach W admitted that. Refreshing to see coach own up to that.
The ugly
Way too many pass drops highlighted by the 3rd and 8 from our own 3 when under pressure. MVB put the ball right on the wide open receiver who may still be running but dropped it. We were down by 8 with 7:30 on the clock. If that play had success which it could have then anything would become possible.
The many referee intrusions and bad calls. Moving the ball back on the MVB slide overturning the call on the field potentially altered the game since we were within striking distance. The ref on the mic could have just as well said we are marking the ball back enough to make it fourth down.. That run created momentum. The momentum was disrupted by stopping for a review and then moving the ball back.
Coach did a good job post game interview in a professional way. However, in my eyes when he was asked about MVB play in the game, he gave supportive remarks which were appropriate. BUT he went on to say that MVB has to work on holding the ball with two hands related to the fumble. He did have two hands most of the cock back. The Alabama guy breathing down his throat from the left side may have had something to do with it. For much of the time in the game he ran for his life and made very good throws with several key throws dropped. Honestly I do not think if the quarterbacks changed Jersies that the Bama QB would have done as well running for his life. As a matter of fact, compared to his other games he did not do so good.
Going forward here are some suggestions.
Let's try a new experiment that has potential. Give Nuss a rest this week to heal from whatever injuries he has had. He has tried hard. It is time to reward him with a deserved rest.
Let MVB prep this week to start, I think it would be more fun to watch and after all this is supposed to be entertainment.
Keep the Defensive coaches in place. They are not the problem. Imagine what some offensive production could have done to help them this year.
Consider Joe Brady as coach and let's do a summer of 10,000 catches again like Jefferson and Chase did in 2019. Seemed to work for them. And I think MVB can run that same 2019 Offense.

re: New Orleans speeding ticket by camera

So this is a thread this morning on OT related to schools.
New Orleans school bus carrying students struck by bullets in Central City
I grew up a lot of years in New Orleans and commuted across Algiers ferry and down canal street on the bus right past Warren Eastern high School. I would often cross the Ferry at night. In 4 years, I never witnessed any incident that caused concern for safety. I would not consider doing that today.
But at least the school zones are safe from speeders who barrel through at 5 miles over the limit. Its a start.

New Orleans speeding ticket by camera
Posted by DrDolemite on 4/18/23 at 8:30 pm
I had business event in New Orleans in March spending over $1500 dollars on food and lodging. I got a letter today showing my car in the photo saying I was doing 25 in a 20 at 3:58 pm by warren eastern on canal. No one in sight. No dangers. If it was school zone sure did not show it.
I will spend $1500 somewhere else in the future. I am posting this to warn others who may make it that far into town without getting mugged to let you know to not lower your guard. It is good to know they are using cameras to clean up crime like speeding. Meanwhile …………

To the original poster - let me guess, you are not a Catholic is that correct? Do you attend any Christian church regularly?
What is your eternal viewpoint?
Are you agnostic or atheist?
Do you believe in an afterlife and what does that look like to you and how do you feel that will work out for you?
Thanks much.

Thank you El Segundo for your comments.
Kindness to others is not owned by a religion. When we hold a door open for someone or stand when a lady comes to our table to honor them or choose to respond on Internet threads in a civil manner it may not change the world but it can change us and those we encounter. And that can make a day a lot better.
We do not have to let anyone ruin our day.
Thank you again.

We have been fighting the wrong battle. Our tools for victory are spiritual.
-Turn off the bad news that creates chaos
- receive the sacraments regularly
- do random acts of kindness for many you encounter throughout each day. It will soften hearts.
- encourage all you encounter each day including yourself
- remember the battle has already been won 2000 years ago. Live as a victor not a victim Anything else is a lie and just noise. Don’t listen to the lie. Only the truth.

That is an interesting perspective I had not considered. That brings back the thought of the warm up shirts worn mid season. A lot of things you do not usually see at LSU

All this in an atmosphere of a state that elected a top official that said hold your nose and vote for the crook. And we did.
We are righteous it seems when we want to be.
Coach Wade did not steal millions. He was small potatoes it seems in the big picture when it comes to breaking rules. Even in his profession and for sure when you look at our culture in general.

Again it was T and W letter that said that firing Coach Wade does not mean they agree with the accusations. That just does not fit. Seems like you use the opportunity to say we take these accusations seriously and will respond once we have had a chance to evaluate them.
I was at the Vanderbilt game the first Coach Wade did not coach. That had to be one of the most passionately supportive crowds I have seen in a long time at an LSU event. It was a magical night.
And it did not go well for JA that night.
I think that emotion still exists and I am not sure T and A considered that part as I read their letter of dismissal. Time will tell.

Since there was a window to respond it seems it would have been less disruptive to wait a week or two until the run is over. That was a possibility. Especially since they said in their signed statement that firing coach Wade does not mean they agree with the allegations.

But they said that there action to fire did not mean they agree with the allegations. A bit strange

Why did not T and W wait until after the tourney
Posted by DrDolemite on 3/13/22 at 6:46 pm
So Iin the letter signed by T and W they say their actions to fire coach Wade were NOT an acknowledgement that they agree with the allegations. Interesting. I think if I remember correctly LSU has a few weeks to respond to the allegations.
So why could T and W not wait until the tourney run was done to make their move. All they had to say is we are working through this and will respond later. Lawyers should know how to manage these things like that. Or do they?
Something does not feel right about all this. But Karma has a way of working these things out over the long run.
Would be interesting to see how this would have worked out had the media not wanted Coach Wade’s head on a platter and as many have said and yet not some other coaches.

Sorry yes to be more concise---
What if the athletic director instead of jumping the gun and setting into place events publicly that led us to today would have instead just made one public statement when questioned by the media and only one which is this-
"Statements have been made by the media questioning the integrity of LSU basketball and its coach. LSU has always operated with the highest integrity and fairness. Due to the sensitivity of the issues and potential legal ramifications, we are handling this internally and will withhold further comment until it is appropriate."

AD / Coach Wade — What If
Posted by DrDolemite on 3/25/19 at 11:52 am
I am a big fan of Will Wade and what he has accomplished in two years at LSU. These accomplishments are much greater than just wins and losses. I have never seen a coach at LSU of any sport, and there have been many great coaches, do a better job of coaching their players to reach their individual potentials and plugging them in like pieces of a chess puzzle as what we witnessed this year with basketball. The players responded in all situations with great class representing the University with dignity. I believe that is a reflection of how they were coached. The season has brought great joy to many people.
A few days before the final season game everything came to a screeching halt. It starting with a Media hit piece and in my opinion could have ended there. But it did not.
Lots of back and forth has taken place and now both the administration and Coach Wade are at a stalemate. Could this have been avoided? I definitely think it could have been avoided which makes it a tragedy because it wasn't.
And with that the season continues with head coach Wade as it should have. The media would likely never let it go but to any follow up attempts the comment should remain -- "we are handling this internally and will withhold further comment until it is appropriate. Thank you."
So can the present stalemate be broken to restore what should be and that is to reinstate Coach Wade. Of course it can. That is what adults who care about each other work to accomplish. For now it is simply this-- come tomorrow the Athletic Director could make this public statement--
" Two weeks ago allegations were made by media outlets concerning our head coach and basketball program. Our intent as always has been to operate our programs at the highest level of integrity. By our request Coach Wade stepped aside from coaching. We are a nation that presumes innocence until proven guilty. We intend to do the same. Effective immediately, we are reinstating Coach Wade to his full coaching responsibilities. We will handle this moving forward internally and will withhold further comment until it is appropriate."
