How long it would take NFL teams under .500 to get to over .500

It seems not long ago that we were hundreds of games under .500. It seems the NFC South is flush with mediocrity.
Also, LOL at the Falcons.

As soon as they win more than 8 games.
Sorry, I'm in dad joke mode.

To be fair, Tampa was terrible forever. And the Saints and falcons had to lose to the 49ers twice a year in the 80s and 90s until realignment in the mid 90s.

Realignment happened in 2002

Yeah, I was thinking of when they added Carolina and Jacksonville. Forgot we had the greatest show on turf to deal with for a few years in the late 90s.
I always hated that we lost the 49ers when they fell back down to earth and gained Tampa when they started being good.

The New Orleans Saints will never get there.

I’m weird, and probably dumb, but I can’t figure out how the hell this graphic is sorted. Age of team?

Thank God for Sean Payton, or we would look like Tampa right now.

Can you imagine how bad that would be for us without Brees and Payton? Panthers are fortunate they haven’t been around long.

Anyone know the moment where the Saints were at its largest games under .500 mark? Guessing Haslett's last season and last game, huh?

Regular Season
From 1967 through 1985 (the Mecom ownership years), the Saints’ record was 83-187-5. (.307 )
Since 1986 (Benson ownership) 320-273-0 (.540)
This .540 winning percentage would make the Saints the 7th-best overall all-time winning record.
Fun Fact: The last Saints tie was October 22, 1972 at Candlestick Park (20-20).

Brees and Payton were the long exception and outlier for the Saints. Dennis Allen is more typical of the coaches we have had and last year was a return to the mean for the franchise.

Quick drop into excel says yes it was after the Katrinia year. Saints were 115 games under .500 at that time.
Without diving into the week-to week struggles every year, I did notice they were really close in 2007 & 2008 so looked at those records. They also hit the -115 games under mark after week 5 in 2007 when the team started 0-4.
And to really kick a fanbase while they're down, in their history the Saints have never been above .500. Franchise started 0-7 and still have not gotten that close to .500 since.
