Old routine was coffee and readings from 6:30-7:00 and I would go to the bathroom like clockwork with normal outcomes. That’s the only thing I consumed until 8:30. Gym was in the afternoon.

New routine is an energy drink with readings 5:00-5:30. I go to the bathroom but it’s not like it was.
Then at 6 off to the gym with BCAA’s and water then protein shake after. Around 8:00 every day I have the hershey squirts.
What’s the deal?

Protein shake first thing in the AM does it to me too. Oddly, oatmeal with protein powder is fine.

What brand of Protein and BCAA's are you using? Do they happen to have the typical mix of a bunch of artificial sweeteners, carrageenan, artificial colors etc? All that stuff causes digestive problems and poor gut health.

It’s probably the energy drink, or if you’re like me and over 40, any change in routine and my body protests.

Why not just have your coffee rather than the energy drink? When I was in the early morning gym crew, I always had a black coffee with me in the gym.

Why did you change your routine in the first place?

The Fairlife shake and All Day You May BCAA’s I’ve been drinking for years. Never had an issue. Energy drink is at 5:30 am and my issue starts around 8:00 am.

I want to go straight home after work to be with my family and have weekends open. I went from 4 workouts a week to 5 so that’s nice.

All Day You May BCAA’s

Citric Acid, Natural & Artificial Flavors, Glucose Polymers, Silicon Dioxide, Sucralose, Acesulfame K, FD&C Yellow No. 6
All that stuff wreaks havoc on your stomach/gut.
Plus most the 5% stuff is super expensive.

Fairlife shake

Natural Flavors, Monk Fruit Juice Concentrate, Stevia Leaf Extract, Carrageenan, Cellulose Gel, Cellulose Gum, Acesulfame Potassium, Sucralose, Lactase Enzyme, Vitamin A Palmitate, Vitamin D3.

In just these two products you are flooding your gut in awful stuff. It's what is causing your issues. Especially the Carrageenan.

Which energy drink are you using?

Those two I’ve been using for years and not planning to stop.

Energy drink varies.
ZOA natural, Ghost or Reign Storm with beta alanine supps
Or Monster
Or C4 with no additional supps

I get that! Why did you change from coffee to an energy drink?

Have you tried taking probiotics to help with your gut issues?

Even worse than the 5% stuff as far as all that stuff goes. You are literally flooding your stomach with a bunch of chemicals and emulsifiers and asking us why you are having issues

There are plenty of companies out there that make these same amino blends and proteins and don't add all this shite to them. They are no more expensive than the 5% stuff and much cleaner and better for you.

On a side note, do the BCAA workout drinks do anything or are you better off just drinking water?

If they are good….what’s a good brand that’s not loaded with shite?

If you are eating red meat and eggs there is no reason to use a BCAA mix. An EAA mix would be more beneficial. BCAA mixes and Pre Workouts are some of the biggest profit margin products in the industry. Most are just full of crap ingredients and fillers/sweeteners and cost very little to manufacture.

How can you say that when he's been using these products previously with no adverse effects? So when 1 out of 4 variables are changed with a resulting change in outcome you decide to focus on the constants?

Look at the 'energy' drinks he posted that he also introduced. They are loaded with more of those things. He is taking in a ridiculous amount of this stuff all in a short window. The information is out there on things like emulsifiers etc. and what they do to your stomach and gut.
