At this point wouldnt it have been faster to get surgery? I mean maxi kleber tore his hamstring, got surgery and still got back before zion

As I understand it, Zion didn't tear it so there's really no surgery to get.

And also, Zion hasn't missed all this time for 1 injury, it's for 2 injuries.

ain't coming back. This is exactly the same as last year. Don't get your hopes up.

I got the divorce from the hopes yesterday.

and this, now, is pathetic.
I hate the secrecy and lack of information.

I have to infer that he's nowhere near a cameo with a couple left.

damn.

Stop letting this freaking training staff off the hook.

I don't get where you're going with this, that factually happened...not following you here.

Again, the front office dangling the carrot in front of the fans when season renewals are on the line.

Wont believe anything anyone says about him until he’s playing. Everything else is wishful thinking.

They’re going to need to surgically remove Zion’s arse from the bench at this point. It’s got to be fused to his body with as much time he spends sitting on it

At this point, if Zion isn’t Larry bird on catch and shoot three pointers I’m going to be disappointed. He’s had 4 years to stand around and perfect that skill.

Just got in from work and saw the notification for Willie’s interview. How did the media not ask a fricking follow up question? I know Willie probably wouldn’t answer a lot of questions but maybe try to get a little more clarification.

Everyone talks about small market teams not attracting big stars but if I’m a big name player I’m parking my arse in the smallest market possible. Sure my endorsement money may be down but I’m sitting with a max contract and basically unbothered by the media.

It’s interesting how people are actually surprised at this point

It would be much more surprising if Zion was ever on schedule or beat an injury timeline.

Idk how anyone can look at the guy right now and think he’s ready to play in a must win basketball game. He’s very obviously gained at least 25 pounds since the last time he has played. His conditioning is likely an absolute wreck.

This is a direct rinse/repeat of the last 4 years and it’s been somewhat obvious since the all star break that it would be a minor miracle if Zion played another regular season game this year based on the way he looks, his decline in vibe, the team’s decline in vibe, etc.

I think he’s actuality close to playing at this point (probably in the playoffs), but it won’t be the peak Zion we enjoyed this season unless we make a deep run and he gets back into playing shape.

They are so scared of getting their credentials pulled. Let’s be honest, if you’re a beat writer for the pelicans you aren’t doin great in the world of sports journalism. If they get their credentials pulled they probably don’t have a lot of fall back options.

I can understand that but it’s the thing that we are most interested in as fans. It was one question asked and then they moved on to other bullshite. Maybe they were told that they wouldn’t be addressing the questions about Zion prior to the interview. I don’t know but I’d have liked a little more clarification. I guess if we’re reading tea leaves then this is our message that he’s just not going to play again this year. I’ll still be holding out hope like always because this is basically the Stockholm Syndrome of the Pelicans.

Oh I 100% agree with you. One of these reporters needs to grow a pair and ask questions about zion until they physically remove him from the building

that is the most plausible explanation for the lack of transparency. They are afraid of reigniting the whole fat zion media frenzy

if we knew we only had today to practice and then one more before Minny, a logical and reasonable question from the media would be to ask why he could not be re-evaluated a day or 2 early.

the fact that he has not been re-evaluated tells me that he will not be playing this year at all. it’s clearly not about getting him on the court right now. I’m sure he could get re-evaluated every day if we really wanted him to

unfortunately that appears to be the case. And if it is, the sum total highlight of zions first 4 years here will have been a mid season two game home stand against the suns LOL

and that is pretty fricking hard to believe

Great strategy by this franchise, continue to save him for next year only for him to get injured again while neither the organization nor the player do anything differently to change the outcome.

Starting to think Shel is Aaron Nelson's son---always there to defend.

it’s not Nelson’s fault that zion can’t stay on the court nor is it his fault that Zion can’t return from an injury in a “normal” time frame

Right now our 22 year old “franchise player” looks like a bigger injury head case than Ben Simmons. Guy is way more fragile than glass.
