Why has your school board neglected providing safety for your school?

Obviously, if the Muslims took out the twin towers in NYC their next logical target would be to bomb Bossier Parish public schools.

Since all of you are so obsessed with me accidentally including an extra “are”, I apologize for my a mistake and trying to get my post out quickly.
Now, as a principal the safety of my students, teachers, staff, and volunteers in my school are my sole responsibility. A responsibility I take very seriously. As a public school, I can’t simply go out and hire armed guards, I would if I had it in my budget, believe me! We have resource officers that service certain areas that include elementary, middle, and high schools. Where do you think they spend their time?
I have spent every cent of my grant funds on upgrading the safety equipment of our school for years. But when I saw the video of that POS shooting out the door, the reality of how vulnerable we are became crystal clear.
I have advocated for more funds for safety improvements, more resource officers, and annual budget funds excluding grant funds.
To address some of you, there is no teacher’s union in GA. This post is not about me, but maybe it will actually get some of you involved in your local school boards and let your voices be heard about funding at your children’s school.

How about we start with pulling the federal government away from all aspects of education?
I'd bet after a decade of them being removed we'd see significantly better results in teaching, learning, facility upgrades, and of course safety. The federal government screws up everything it touches.

100% of school funds are provided by local taxes. You need to focus on local schools and get those boards in line before focusing on the federal level.

Your kids are still more likely to die in a wreck on the way to school.

It must be tough. Teachers should be a priority. One of the most important job's in our country. We entrust our most precious and important resources with you, our children. Teachers spend more time with our children than we do, during the school year. They should be better paid, also better trained and better screened. As parents, we all want the best for our children this we can all agree on. Why aren't we fighting for that instead of worrying about less important things? Just sayin
