This has been a difficult day for me and my staff. Any time that there is a school shooting, those of us that work at a school are always a bit on edge especially because normally another shooting follows in the days or weeks to come.

However, for us at our elementary school this one is more difficult because it was at another elementary school. As I walked the halls and looked at our 9 year old students and imagined what happened to those 9 year old students in TN I was overcome with grief, sadness, and fear.

Our staff was on high alert and will remain that way until the end of the school year. Being in this state makes a difficult job even more stressful.
I received many emails from our families thanking us for keeping their children safe. If you have children, please think about reaching out to their school with a kind word for their staff. These days are so hard.

It is too bad goooooooooooooberment does not provide security for schools like they do for all other gooooooooooooooberment buildings.

It is too bad they do not have classes in schools whereas students are taught gun safety and how to accurately shoot a gun. We all know why? A goooooooooooooooberment does not want a citizenry that can accurately shoot targets.

"When government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny."

Thomas Jefferson was right. Please do not fear!!

Get some armed guards at the school and relax.

This is what happens when you spend your entire life in a classroom.

How about keeping the kids in school and teaching them about the dangers of left wing lunatics and show them you are leading the way by stopping your teacher union dues

The question is do you and your staff have security on-site because y’all aren’t trained to know what high alert means. I’m a combat vet and would never sleep while a kindergarten teacher pulled guard duty!

I feel your pain and pray that your student are properly protected!

First of all - thank you for keeping the kids safe.

But, second, I have a challenge for you - Are you reaching out to your administrators, legislators and law enforcement? Are you pushing them to harden your school and find ways to secure and defend it in-house, either with dedicated law enforcement, security or volunteer faculty/staff?

Because if you're not, frankly, I don't think you're doing enough to allow you to sleep at night should something happen. You're just sort of passively waiting for it to happen, in a way. Just my $0.02 and probably not worth that.

Wow, you have an extremely low tolerance of risk. Reminds me of 9-11. The schools here in Bossier Parish went on lock down. No one could leave their home room class all day.
Why?
Obviously, if the Muslims took out the twin towers in NYC their next logical target would be to bomb Bossier Parish public schools.

Christian schools need armed security. Fact.

I don't think she means Alabama. I think she means "in a heightened state of alertness" - "hypervigilance" I think the shrinks call it.

I know you're a good conservative God-fearing woman

But this is awfully close to "get out there and make that tragedy about myself" territory. Combined with undertones of standard teacher attention-whoring, it's going to be a rough crowd.
