If one can identify as a different sex, can one identify as a different race?

Don't laugh, I feel it coming.

Hasn't that happened already?

The answer is no to both, but if one is allowed, then both should be.
Sex is way more of a scientific surety than race.
They will allow gender switching, but not racial switching for obvious reasons.
They don't even want you posting black memes, much less claiming to be black.

Many white people with Spanish last names (and some Italian last names that sound Latin) identify as Latino on applications to take advantage of minority privilege. Why not?

If so then I am a black man. And I may move to San Francisco in the near future.

race is actually less significant than gender.

Different Race? There are people out there that identify as a different species.

I identify as an American Indian so I can fall under the treaty of 1905 and 1906 and they can’t impose a snapper season on me!

As fas as my employer knows, I’m black.

It makes more sense than gender.
The genetic difference of race is much smaller than for sex.

My position on reparations might change with this one.

It would really screw up SanFranc's repatriation plans.

Race is a cultural characteristic, based not on just physical appearances and inherited traits, but also language, religion, diet, cultural traditions and practices, etc. It's best to think of race as a social, not a scientific distinction.
Sexuality is scientific, primarily. There's even speculation within the scientific community that non-binary sexuality may be a genetic variant; a natural nucleotide substitution within the human genome.
Of course there's a social component to human sexuality; girls traditionally playing with dolls, boys with GI Joe and fast cars. But the difference between race and sex is this: race is mostly social, with scientific underpinnings, whereas sex is primarily scientific, with a strong social conditioning.

Folks been doing it for as long as man has existed. Race is not in any manner associated with any biological marker that can be tested for. Race, just like gender, is a societal and cultural construct. Folks have been passing as a different race than what most people would guess they were if they knew the parents for as long as our species has existed and developed the idea of race in human beings.
