The Drug Enforcement Administration has issued an urgent public safety alert regarding the animal tranquilizer xylazine — warning it is now being used as a cheap cutting agent for fentanyl in 48 states.

The medication — known on the street as “tranq,” “tranq dope” and “zombie drug” — is approved by the Food and Drug Administration for veterinary use. However, it is not safe for human consumption as it causes flesh-rotting sores and respiratory depression.

Often cut with heroin, dealers are now mixing it with fentanyl as an inexpensive way to make highs last longer amid the “disgraceful” opioid epidemic killing up to 300 Americans per day.

“Xylazine is making the deadliest drug threat our country has ever faced, fentanyl, even deadlier,” agency administrator Anne Milgram said in the “widespread threat” alert. “DEA has seized xylazine and fentanyl mixtures in 48 of 50 states.”

The shocking statistic is sure to alarm Americans, as there has been little reporting about the rapid spread of the dangerous drug.

If we could just close the Southern Border . . . you know . . . like a Sovereign Nation-State would do . . . this might not happen.

Is this the new anti-drug propaganda?

Why can’t people just smoke some damn weed and be happy? Why people decide to do other drugs stronger than weed is beyond me.

I mentioned tranq and benzodope in a fentanyl thread last week as being the new waves of highly dangerous drugs. Poly drug usage is growing and the drugs they are mixing just get crazier and crazier. IIRC tranq started in Puerto Rico (a long time ago) and hit CONUS in Philly.

If it does that to people there is no way I want that in my dog! Save it for the hood rats.

Yikes. Xylazine always freaks me out to use on the horses. The weird sweating patterns bother me.

This is just stupid sensationalism at its finest.

Xylazine is a mild sedative. Its not getting anyone high. I use it on a daily basis on several species. Its not zombifying anyone and if people are getting "rotten" wounds from it, its not from the primary action of xylazine but because they are using disgusting, non-sterile syringes and injected filth into themselves.

normally i wouldn't care but this will just wind up making it harder to get and use xylazine for veterinarians with no real need to control this agent. We are already drafting up responses as a group to legislative bodies.

These drug dealers aren’t being too smart lately. Kill off your buyers then who do you have left?

They are cutting fentanyl with tranq? Getting where you can't trust anybody anymore.
