No this is the kick the can down the road again we are not a SB team w/ Carr
You misunderstood. The OP is saying don't expect a SB bc falling short of that would make you miserable. Instead, he says just be happy with a marginal wild card team cuz it's better than the 60s/70s/early 80s Ain'ts or replicating those teams by puposely tanking.
So enjoy early Jim Hazlett era.

Anyone of age has experienced a ton of misery as a Saints fan and with our very good defense, why would we not want to be competitive and fun, and a playoff team.
Because we are sealing the fate of our franchise in a few years to that doom of the 80s/90s

Who are you taking over Carr today?
If probably still take Rodgers b/c he just recently won two MVPs and had shite at receiver this year. But good chance he goes to an AFC team.
Carr is at worst, on the exact same tier as Dak and Cousins.
So yea he might be anywhere from the 2nd to 4th best qb in the NFC.

Why do people make stupid blanket statements like this?

Feel free to disagree.
I don’t disagree, but my solution would be to outright tank. Trade what we can for picks, clear up all the cap space, and set up for drafting your frachise QB.
If you aren’t going to commit to a full rebuild though, this was the next best option. This at least buys you some time to identify and draft your future QB.

Enjoy having a good Saints team. If you are over 40, and experienced sucking for decades, you love this trade. Why would anyone want to tank just so we have a better change to win down the line.
…because we aren’t going to really compete with Carr. Maybe we are lucky and the division sucks again. But this is an 8-10 win team at best.

Yeah Carr is good.
Good enough to score 0 points last yr against the Saints at home.
Good enough to get benched on a garbage team.
This move sets the franchise back half a decade.
Terrible move. He sucks.

Agreed. Best QB in the division

Regardless of how old you are, you are banking on Carr giving you at least 3 more wins per season than Dalton or Winston would have. Whether or not he does that is what is going to make this deal worth it.
I certainly think he gives us a better chance at 10 wins than Dalton, but unfortunately, if Allen doesn't do his job better, that is going to be a tall order.

LOL! We had a HOF QB retire just a couple years ago.

I don't like it and I'm not near the age of 20.

That hall of famer wasn't a hall of famer when he signed with the Saints

4 Pro Bowls, so yes basically.
But...look it up. No other FA QB they have been able to sign has had this type of recognition.

And I hate this signing because I don’t watch and root just for a team to win the division every year. I want to win a Super Bowl. This signing puts that off for as long as Carr is the QB. The ceiling is the 4 seed and the divisional round. And in a year or two, the Saints will think they don’t have a QB problem instead of realizing they will need an upgrade at QB if they want to get to another Super Bowl, much less win it. Loser mentality is being happy winning a shitty division and then getting bitch-slapped in the wild card or divisional round.
Best fricking post in the thread. Carr is no upgrade and handicaps the future of this franchise.

that’s because elite QBs don’t become free agent and don’t sign any where not just New Orleans.

Can’t stand it. With a real HC, Carr would be elite. DA and Carmichael ain’t it
