With Carr we are very competitive, a playoff team very likely. Will have a lot of fun. Anyone of age has experienced a ton of misery as a Saints fan and with our very good defense, why would we not want to be competitive and fun, and a playoff team. Are we going to win the super bowl? Probably not, but if you spend EVERY year with a super bowl mentality, you are going to be freaking miserable.

Enjoy having a good Saints team. If you are over 40, and experienced sucking for decades, you love this trade. Why would anyone want to tank just so we have a better change to win down the line.

LOSER MENTALITY.

42. I hate it. I also don’t want to tank. You can want the team to not keep pushing money into perpetuity for a desperate shot at a historically shitty coach to keep his job.

Take as many financial lumps as you can and get right. Move up for your guy in the draft after a year or two of getting the finances better.

Loomis is a shite gm and Allen is a shite coach.

I have to agree. The guy is the most decorated free agent QB they have ever signed...which speaks to him being pretty good but also speaks to how difficult it is to talk a legit qb to come play is this shite hole city.

I think Carrs got all the potential in the world. I am optimistic about this signing. He needed a new start for sure.

36. Really like it. Division favorites now and should Dick slap the falcons which I rather enjoy doing. We weren’t getting a carr quality qb in the draft and we all know what we’ve got with Dalton or Jameis. We make a few good draft picks filling some needed holes or adding needed depth and we could make a little noise this year.

Because eventually I’d like us the have access to more of our cap and not have so much dead money each year.

I don't question the signing bc he is a clear upgrade to what we have on the roster and is the best free agent qb available. I do question what will be the contract. We have to quit over spending to create some bench strength at other positions at some point bc injuries have hamstrung us for years.

The cap is a myth. The cap doesn't really exist. Anything and everything can be done inside of it. Why fans worry about this so much is weird to me.

Curious what you think the better options were.

Disagree. Some going too far with drama? Sure.
But many like me wanted a cleaner break from the CSP Era of kicking the can. Start to get a handle on cap. Start to acquire more pics. And start the search for your next franchise QB. Loomis and Gayle disagree. So we may get a average to good team that can win the division and then be right back here again in year five with a bloated cap, less pics and looking for a QB.

Tha frick?!??

What’s the point of having a franchise if you ain’t trying to win a championship?

frick the “let’s be mediocre forever” mentality some of you clowns have

Carr has been mediocre his whole career

That ain’t changing in New Orleans

The better option to me is to make do with another season of cheap qb play and restock some in the draft along the lines. Get younger and cheaper. Depending on where we’re picking next year and how we feel about the roster move up for our future guy.

When you have coaching problems, depth problems, and cap problems you’re just putting a bandaid on things. We’re trying to recreate CSP/Brees and I just don’t see it working AT ALL outside of maybe a year or two of being a .500ish division winner and then getting bounced.

There is no long term plan for this team. It’s constantly reshuffling with a ceiling that is just going to keep going down. Feel free to disagree.

50, and the Saints are going the wrong way, they need to tear it down and rebuild.

Nope. I’m north of 50, old enough to remember the second half of the Archie Manning era, lived through Bum/Mora/Ditka, had season tickets starting in the Haslett era and still follow them. And I hate this signing because I don’t watch and root just for a team to win the division every year. I want to win a Super Bowl.

This signing puts that off for as long as Carr is the QB. The ceiling is the 4 seed and the divisional round. And in a year or two, the Saints will think they don’t have a QB problem instead of realizing they will need an upgrade at QB if they want to get to another Super Bowl, much less win it.

Loser mentality is being happy winning a shitty division and then getting bitch-slapped in the wild card or divisional round.

Last offseason, when seemingly every elite QB & FA was joining the AFC, I saw many talking heads predicting the Raiders to win the AFC West after signing Adams.

I said they wouldn't bc of Derek Carr's inconsistent clutch factor, even in the regular season, but particularly in the playoffs.

I have no choice but to hope Carr realizes his potential here and turns a new leaf. The NFC South is currently ripe for his rebirth.

no thanks

Most GM's (GUY) turns out to be a bust. Move up? move up with what? trade every asset away so YOUR GUY plays with not talent.

The benglas hit on a 1 in 1,000 blueprint.

I like Carr. I like the move

We have holes all over the team.
Look if the Sants Have a frick it season like the Rams and just go for broke fine I understand selling your soul to the devil, but this isn't an all in move.

In a different thread, i said he was the best QB in the NFC south. He is top 5 in the NFC..maybe top 3.

Who are you taking over Carr today?

Hurts.
Rodgers.
Cousins.
Prescott.
Daniel Jones.
Geno Smith.
Purdy.
Stafford.
Murray.

I'm only on Hurts here.
