Can you have a carrier unit and swap out the condenser for a Goodman? Curious as to how this will work for the OP.
Yes you can as I mentioned in one of my earlier posts (for a traditional forced air split system HVAC), but it is not recommended to do this for a air sourced heat pump.

My AC guy says Goodman is on the lower end.
This true, you’ll commonly see Goodman in apartment complexes, spec house, etc. they sell volumes of these at lower price points, but it doesn’t mean that when installed properly they don’t give good performance.
Thing is anyone can order a Goodman on line and have a hack install it - common activity to save money. Bad install, bad performance and problem issues, hence the poor reputation of Goodman as an inferior product when often the install is the issue, but the equipment is going to get the blame and not the installer who used poor installation practices.

Thank goodness I steered clear of this brand.

I had a Goodman a few year back and it ran 13 years trouble free.

What model Daikin? That's all I have in my house with the oldest unit being 3.5 years old.

Every situation is different, but I did not have a good run with Goodman inside units. I changed out the inside coils 5 times in a span of about 12 years. All under warranty, but a total cluster frick hassle every 2 years or so. My AC guy had no answers. He even asked if my wife cleans a lot (which she does). That possibly the chemicals were making their way through my system causing the corrosion. But, how do you explain my upstairs unit that was 30 years old (copper not aluminum) in the same attic. My wife hated his guts as she thought it was his fault.
Just replaced both of my ACs a month ago. Went with Heil, which is a Carrier product (I think). Way too soon to tell, but it is super quiet and more efficient. Only time will tell if it lasts....

This is true. Would you mind saying what you paid for the units and tonnage, and if it included a gas furnace?

Right over $18K for a 4.5 and 2.5 ton. The 4.5 was a 19SEER (two stage) and the 2.5 was 16SEER (single stage). Both with gas furnace.

I did a lot of research on the topic. I believe the best of installers could get a Goodman to last very long and a jackleg installer screw up the best Trane system.

I’ve had two Goodmans for six years. Zero problems. Much better price than other brands.

Currently on year 7 with a Goodman. Had to change a capacitor last year, but that’s been the only issue.

Stay away from Goodman and Amana... I have had two Goodman systems. Both broke down 2 years in and required lots of $ or replacement.
The warranty doesn't cover Freon or labor. My evap core on my Goodman went out in 2021 after 2 years. It was covered under warranty!!! They provided a replacement evap core and I paid the labor and Freon. My part was $1500.00. There's was $450.00.

Can suck my balls. Their condenser didn't last 4 years and only had a 3 year warranty. Piece of shite product and company.
