Jordan very clearly lays out the ever present danger that comes from the left’s attempt to control speech, and although Canadian, the same can be seen happening in America as well as the rest of western countries in the world that once fought against such tyranny in the middle part of the 20th century. Some on the left are bringing us right back to that place, but the constant theme has always been left, now hasn’t it?

The left's favorite line: "You can't yell fire in a crowder theater" They like to use it as excuse to sensor people

Meaningless as this was overturned subsequently by the Supreme Court.

Tell that to Democrats that like to reference it as an example that the Constitution is not absolute

Seems clear to us that can read. Therefore, Democrats cannot read.

I shall.

Also, you posted that a Talking Heads concert video of (maybe) Life During Wartime was the best live performance of a song you’ve ever seen. I responded with the LOL emoji. I realize that it was your opinion and I shouldn’t have passed judgment on something subjective like that, especially since you seemed to really enjoy the video.

For that, I apologize.

The video makes a point that Ayn Rand made long ago. She said 'There is no difference between Socialism, Communism, Nazism. They are all Totalitarian. The opposite of freedom.'

Correction:

"You can't FALSELY yell fire in a crowded theater"

One word make a lot of difference.

I wish there were a board to discuss this very thing.

I am so sick of all the "background" music in documentaries. The older I get the more time in spend watching documentaries - and so many of them totally ruined by the 'music' that permeates the whole experience.

And most of it makes zero sense - I'd like to know how these things are put together.
- do they just randomly hook up a sound track to run at the same time as the recording? - most of it makes zero sense - it is not synched with what is going on - it makes no volume alteration depending on the sounds from the real video - voices in documentaries are varied from very soft to loud, but the 'music' just blares regardless.

anyone know why the hell this is?

Are you talking about YouTube stuff? Most of the amateur stuff is from pay to play music libraries. The user puts in “sad music” and picks from a list. Then just sets it to play in the background. Very rarely do they put any thought into the volume or mixing, etc.

As far as the stuff you see on TV or the professional stuff, it’s scored by a film composer usually. Usually the director meets with the composer and it’s a lot more nuanced than the amateur YouTube stuff.

I seen some by Dave Attenbury that is pretty bad, and I thought that was about as professional as you can get

But yes - the uTube ones are suspect as hell - I doubt anyone really listens to them afterward

but the big question is === WHY??

I see very little reason for it outside of some dramatic goal - for just scientific or adventure videos, I see no benefit whatsoever.

and it would have to be really well coordinated to make any sense at all - most of the footage benefits from silence - or else VERY low volume.

thanks for the response - this question been bugging me a long time - especially last night!!!! lol

Hayek and others warned us a really, really long time ago. Before that, the Founders. The Federalist and Anti-Federalist Papers are full of references to the lust for power that comes with human nature and the all the dangers that come with it.

JP is the most important voice for reason in the world right now. He’s also demonstrating that it can be very lucrative as well. As opposed to the people intent on the path of “get woke, go broke”

Bastiat, "The Law" is probably the fastest way to get someone open to it to go "what the f?" in a single lunch hour. Maybe two hours if they've been a Dem for a while.

Does man exist for the state, or does the state exist for the man?

Joe Rogan has him on regularly, and he’s probably the biggest voice out there as far as radio shows/podcasts… Howard Stern might be tied with him. But I don’t think Howard Stern would ever invite JP.

I do think JP going to the Daily Wire was a little surprising. He always said he didn’t like how people would turn his viewpoints into politics.

And they don’t realize that you absolutely can yell fire in a crowded theater if it’s on fire.
