Rather than lay them off.
META has recently invested huge amounts of cash in new initiatives that users aren’t interested in.

‘OG Mark’ Returns at Meta as Facebook Parent Gives Thousands of Staff Subpar Reviews
WSJ
Facebook parent Meta Platforms Inc. gave thousands of employees subpar ratings in a recently concluded round of performance reviews, a signal that more job cuts may be on the way, people familiar with the matter said.
The company also cut a bonus metric, the people said, one of several steps senior executives are taking after Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg declared 2023 would be a “year of efficiency.”

Sounds like something a leftist organization would do.

The worst kind of people you can imagine.

Renaming that company was so stupid. Their core businesses are Facebook and Instagram, not some "metaverse" side project almost nobody cares about.

There's two sides to every story.

You mean people don't actually want to live in a completely simulated environment and live like the people in Ready Player One?
Who would've thought that?

Get off my lawn, old fart trigger alert.
That’s called grading on the curve. It’s what we had before participation medals.
There are 100 jobs and 150 employees. Rank em. What in the hell else are you going to do.
Would you prefer that the company go broke so that the lowest performing quiet quitters can keep their jobs? Or maybe they should all draw straws to see who gets to stay.
It’s the real fricking world. You aren’t owed a job. If you don’t like it, meet me at the Sonic.

But the important part is they expanded their DEI department and are more focused on equity.

Probably true.

So there's no chance the employees deserved the reviews received ? Sounds like Meta just raised the bar and these folks don't measure up

These people feel they have to always keep innovating instead of just improving their core products. They are such narcissists they cannot fathom people wont want their innovations.

They went all in on that as well.

Well then that's still Meta's fault for only now accurately rating them.

META probably has thousands of employees that are subpar.

Exxon did the same. They manipulated their rankings in 2020 after the downturn to make sure certain % of bottom 10% performers came across divisions that they could get rid of and replace with workers in India.
