If you claim it’s genetic, you must also accept that a gene that makes you attracted exclusively to the opposite sex is an abnormality to discourage you from reproducing.

Is there homosexuality in other species? Sure but an individual organism that is only interested in the same sex will end the spread of that gene.

ETA. I don’t think it’s genetic. I think it’s a product of the environment and availability of sexual gratification based on individual disposition. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Then it’s a genetic trait. And if it’s a genetic trait wouldn’t have evolution made that characteristic “extinct” since homosexuals would obviously be procreating less prolifically than heterosexuals?

Anyone care to explain this to me?

It is a genetic safety mechanism to keep genetically mentally fricked up individuals from reproducing.

So, the male homosexuals (obviously) are not passing those markers to the next generation in great numbers, but their straight sisters ARE doing so.

If this is true then gay men should have far more genetic traits which are only passed from the mother like mitochondrial conditions, veracious veins and color blindness.

Don't know that it's entirely genetic. Might just be a recessive gene that crops up from time to time, like so many others. Just because the individual may not reproduce doesn't mean the gene gets ended.

My downvoters think that screwing dogs is okay.

No further comment.

Homosexuals are born that way. I would know that since I'm one.

The best possible proof for that is this: Why would people in places like Saudi Arabia decide to be gay if they weren't born that way? Condemning yourself to a life of suffering and fear just for the hell of it?

Homosexuality occurs in many species.
Only if you anthropomorphize what is simply an act of dominance in the animal world. Female dogs hump other dogs. Do you suppose they are imagining they're wearing a strap-on?

You still have to pass recessive genes for them to be expressed. They aren’t mutations.

How does the gay gene know to turn on as a person enters the prison grounds?

We wouldn’t have murderers because we have prisons if this logic held.

Gayness is the least of my worries.

As long as they aren't hurting kids and aren't politically retarded, I'm good.

I don’t care about homosexuals. I’m just trying to get to the truth.

I mean it’s not normal and it’s nothing to be proud of but I certainly don’t think they are bad people .

I remember the time when I chose to be straight. It was the funny feeling I got when I saw Barbara Eden in I Dream of Jeannie.

I just knew!

I never understood the idea that people CHOOSE to be this or that. But that's just me.

This study did find that most of the genetic markers in question are found on the X chromosome, so your point would make sense. I have no idea whether anyone has pursued that line of inquiry.

Most prisoners who rape other men aren't actually men. They just force themselves since they won't be getting any p*ssy there anyway. It's similar to a lot of gay men who fake having sex with women to not come out (so-called "down-low").

But at least you can see why logically that heterosexual behavior is necessary and homosexual behavior is detrimental to a species though, correct?

I think some people are born with screwed up genetics, and some people choose the lifestyle based on early experiences as children.

They aint all the same.

Therefore it's environmental. How does one achieve an erection if it's genetically ingrained?

There are some rare combinations out there too. I was originally the 3rd from youngest out of the 1st cousin generation. Now due to my 4 months younger cousin dying a couple years ago from a one off rare genetic combination, I am 2nd from youngest.

His genetic combination is a known rarity (I forget the name of the condition) that usually kills, by stroke, in the late 30's to mid 40's. He made it to just short of 55 with no idea he had it until it hit. We still have no idea which side of the family contributed to what either as his eldest brother, the dentist, subsequently paid for everyone in their family (down to Aunt's great grandchildren) to get tested for it. Deceased cousin is the only one with a trace of it at all. No others in the 1st cousin generation have even had strokes, heart attacks; yes, strokes; nada.

So I can envision a rare genetic combo causing 3% or fewer adults to be homo. However, I have yet to see the gene combo identified, or even hinted at. So yeah, "skeptic" (as in laughingly doubtful) present and accounted for.
