Headed to Austin for a Bachelor party.

Best advice on bars, breweries, places to eat

That explains why they picked Austin.

6th street is obviously the go too - the jackalope, the library, really bad is fine. I can’t remember the side street but it’s a different bar scene vibe

The picnic is great food truck food. Chicken in a cone >>>

We rented kayaks for an afternoon. It wasn’t lake Travis but it was fun, and we had a few beers.

We did a brewery tour, can’t remember the name but it was nothing special.

The time of year is going to impact a lot of this too. If the weather is decent, there are good beer gardens with a lot of outdoor seating that are pretty good.

You're not chicks, but be aware there is a homeless shelter a block from sixth close to I-35, and you need to be careful getting sloppy if you're anywhere near it on your way back to the hotel late at night.

You can probably have fun on east 6th (that means east of I35), which will be closer to at least the one strip club I know of near the airport. It's for sure more "alt" than the UT focused "regular" 6th street. 4th Street seems to be where yuppies and non 20 year olds hang out.

Rainey Street.

IMO it's a much better place to visit than 6th.

Bangers on Rainey.
Icenhauer's is OK.
If you absolutely have to go to 6th, Jackalope is probably all I would go to.
Caroline's upstairs for day drinking and checking out the scene.
Grab a drink at the Roosevelt room.
More food and drinks at Lavaca St Bar.
If you want a good sit down dinner in the area Red Ash.

The only brewery I can say is worth visiting in todays world is ABGB, unless you're looking for a trip out of town and Jester King is cool with pizza, but it's a trip. If you do go to jester king stop by Revolution Spirits.

People will tell you to go to the oasis, but don't. It sucks.

Walk up and down south congress and pop in and out of places. You'll be fine.

Rose Room is a legit nightclub that also has a hookah bar.

Unquestionably one of the most shocking things to discover when you're in Austin for the first time as an adult

It is totally awful over on that end

This.

Anyone still recommending anything on 6th either hasn't been to Austin in 5+ years or wants that person to have a horrible time, get in a fight, or get killed.

Buffalo Billiards on 6th street is a good spot for people watching and a cold one.

It's at the corner of 7th Street and Neches Street, we learned about it the hard way when we went a couple years ago and stayed at Holiday Inn on the corner of 8th & Neches. We didn't have any issues but did our best to steer clear when coming/going.

I'm with a few others that would much prefer Rainey for a bachelor party. You aren't far from East Austin, either, which has a number of good patio bars / breweries, too.

Rent a 4 hour party barge on Lake Travis or Lake Austin. Bring as much alcohol as you want and store it in the coolers provided on the party barge.

Have done this a few times, including last year. Always been in July or August, though. Depending on time of year, this is a great bachelor party suggestion.

Stay at The Domain and party at the numerous bars and restaurants there. It’s a great place to stay.

Well that would be W. 6th and not Dirty 6th.
