Checking/replacing Toyota 4Runner catalytic converter

It's a 2004 SR5 2 wheel drive, if that matters. It has been a great vehicle, 190k miles but runs great. Only routine maintenance needed until now.
Have brought it to a couple of places after all of the warning lights (including check engine, ABS, etc) came on at once. The diagnostic codes indicate that is the issue is the catalytic converter.
Suggestions/advice on what to do? I tried to reset it by unhooking the battery, ran a can of BK-44 fuel treatment through it, but they all came back on after 100-150 miles.
TIA for any suggestions from the OT car experts.

You need to get it checked out, A clogged/restricted converter is bad.

I know some meth-heads who will remove the old one for free.

Leave it in a empty parking lot of most any major us city for say a week, and the removal part will be free.

You say you brought it to a couple of places. What was their recommendation?
If it's the catalytic converter, then only replacing the catalytic converter will clear the codes. Resetting by disconnecting power only delays a good diagnostic reading by a reputable shop. Adding fuel treatment won't change the performance of the cat. If you don't believe the other two shops, find another. I'd go to AGCO.

My 2001 Camry’s catalytic converters failed. I drove it for 4 more years without fixing it and something else major failed, so I just donated it. It had over 200k miles.

If I remember correctly you should have 2 cats. The Toyota cats just bolt on, no welding required. The replacement is going to bolt directly to the exhaust manifold. You can spend $$$$ on an OEM and it will last another 200k or you can get a aftermarket way cheaper that will bail at 70-100k miles. Labor is going to be a minor part of the cost if you don't DIY because it is really just a few bolts out, few bolts on.

My Tacoma's cats would be $1200 to fix. I just took them off. Replaced with aftermarket and good to go.

Get ready to wait a while for a new converter. Wifes was stolen off her Sequoia last April, still waiting on parts

I’d look for a delete kit, not sure if they them for 4Runners

Does the vehicle have to pass an inspection?
If not, you have a low cost option.

I assume this is also the 4.0L V6. I had this same issue on my 2007 FJ Cruiser following the replacementof my alternator. I wasted money on new catalytic converters and all new O2 sensors to no avail. That combination of dash lights and cat converter or o2 sensor code is a known issue (all over Toyota forums) with no fix, except possibly a new computer. I drove it for over 100k more miles with no issue, ran like a top.

Enadious: yes, Chabill's and my local repair guy. They both said that they (and most places) don't do this work, and to try AGCO or call around to find someone. I guess they are in the exhaust manifolds.
SpotCheckBilly: Yes, I have been living in MS for a few months while my house is being remodeled due to a water leak under the floors. It's past-due by a few months. What's the low-cost option, just disconnect the battery again and bring it in?
Duwayne: Yes, 4.0 V6. That's my fear, that it will not fix the underlying problem.
It's funny, same thing happened (all warning lights came on). Went to Price Leblanc for an assessment (yes I know, I know). They said both exhaust manifolds and some other shite would need to be changed, like 6K, and there was no guarantee that would even fix it. Haha. Ran a couple of cans of BG BK44 fuel system cleaner though it after reading about it helping some folks on the 4runner forums, and they all went off. That was like 4 years ago!
Geauxnc- never heard of a delete kit. Please elaborate...
Thanks everyone.

If you don't have to pass an emission test, just replace it with a straight pipe.

My son has a Honda that was having catalytic problems. He has 175k miless and he didn't want to spend any money to fix. He used a product called Cataclean and it worked and the problem resolved.
I want sure what he used, so I just texted him and told me it was Cataclean and he bought it at Autozone.

Oh, one on the techs/mechanics also recommended Tricare. Anyone have experience with them?
Looking to drive this thing until the wheels fall off (and just bought a set of new Michelin tires even with the warning lights), got 75K miles on the last set, and they handle great!

We had a 90s-era Accord that apparently had a catalytic converter issue for years. It passed emissions checks and at one point, we even swapped out engines. The light stayed on after that. It would come on after the engine warmed up -- and if it took too long, I started to worry. Put about 320k on that car and I'd guess 200k came with the check engine light on.
