Two for the price of one.

I am not an expert but the winner looks like it's a clouded leopard, which are extremely rare and hard to photograph. So, I imagine the photog got a lot of credit for that. It is a badass picture as well.
I can't imagine the work that went into scouting, observing, and setting up. Good for them.
ETA: Guess it's a Snow Leopard. Still a great pic.

The winner is a great picture but it seems "different" because it was a trail camera. I suppose it reminds me a little of the outcry of traditionalists when digital images started beating film images in contests and the digital images were significantly manipulated. The digital argument was that the manipulation was skill also like I suppose setting that camera in just the right spot was also. Still feels weird to me.

A spectacular image of a snow leopard gazing out across mountains in India has been voted the winner of this year’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year People’s Choice Award.
A record 60,466 nature people voted, and German photographer Sascha Fonseca’s “World of the snow leopard” emerged as the firm favorite in the prestigious competition.
Fonseca used a camera trap to capture the image of the rarely sighted big cat at sunset, with a backdrop of mountains in Ladakh, northern India.

I know that look. That ol' baw is stoned as hell.

Damn, that’s sad as hell.

Agree. It is different than being behind the camera pressing the shutter button.
Not as bad as passing off image composites as regular photos though.

Circle of life
What if she’s bringing food back for her starving kittens?

Pics are great, but how many of these were photographed love by a person and not a tripod with a motion detector?
And does that matter?
And does that matter?

I'd have to see what trail camera he used...that picture just doesn't seem right. To be able to get the leopard and the mountains in complete focus? Also to have the brightness of the snow and the detail of the mountains, a lot of photoshop went into that pic.

It’s like some Baw shows a pic of a big buck. You earn more Baw cred when it’s with a bow.

Titled "Mufasa IRL"
But seriously, how do you get that picture? And is the background edited out to be complete black, or is there some camera trickery going on there?
Same with the polar bear picture. If that's not a trail cam then that photog is one brave idiot

Why don't you just admit that you watched The Secret Life of Walter Mitty? It's actually a very good movie, and there's no shame in your desire to daydream, and desire to travel.

Camera used for the Snow Leopard is most likely a Reconyx.Smithsonian Magazine had an article about the Snow Leopards in the Himalayas ,had a picture of the cameras they used and it was a Reconyx.I know because that’s the kind I have.
They’re more expensive but great cameras ,my oldest is 10 years old and still works fine.
Also, only camera made in USA.All other game cameras are made in China.
Damn, the picture of the baby monkey hanging on to his dead mama is sad. Mother Nature is a bitch.
