That had to be one of the closest championships in a while. When was the last time it was decided by 1 match??

Clementi is a sophomore. He got an NIL deal sometime last year can't remember when. He is definitely the real deal.

I didn’t understand what happened there. He was up 10-9 then down 11-10. Missed what the officials had to say. Please explain.

They called locking hands and awarded the other kid a point. Then it was 10-10 and the other kid was on bottom, got an escape, and was up 11-10. Other kid stalled out for the remaining 20 seconds.

The only problem is there was no locking hands. It changed the whole match and had Catholic won that match the team score would have been tied.

Thanks for explaining. Great day of wrestling. My nephew took 2nd at 113. Would have loved to see him win it, but wasn’t meant to be. Good season for the Bears. Won LA Classic and placed 2nd at State Championships. Nothing to be ashamed of.

Question

If it had been tied, is there a tiebreaker or do they just have co-champions?

Hangover haven my 8 year old is at the crusader club. Enjoys it for what it is but I’m not getting too crazy with it yet. No tourneys, just some scrimmages. Honestly I think a bad asswhipping at 8 in a tournament would be horrible for their confidence at that age and probably have the opposite effect. I think middle school is the right time to push it a little more.

I have a 5 yr old and an 8 yr old that wrestle for Clementi's gladiator academy. They enjoy the tournaments alot. My 8yr old started when he was 5 and took the normal new kid arse whippings at tournaments but it just pushes them to get better. He's got a shelf full of medals now and hopefully my youngest son will progress the same way.

There is a tiebreaker criteria but I’m not sure what it is in a tournament. In a dual meet it goes by which team had the most pins, then most technical falls, then major decisions. Not sure if a tournament format would be determined the same way but they wouldn’t have had co champions.

Basile loses their bid for a 5th straight championship by 2.5 points. Tough break, but a heck of a run by our little school. Youth program has 70+ kids so the future is bright!

Actually took 14 years.

But in my day we owned that title. I wrestled in the mid 2000s.

I promise you, Clementi isn't dodging anyone.

Why wouldn’t that match happen? Both undefeated in the state with no one challenging either?

For you wrestling baws in the know, any recommendations for clubs or gyms in the Baton Rouge area to start young kids out in?

Hate to be a dick, but being undefeated or winning multiple state titles in D1 vs D2 or D3 is not even comparable.

Back in the 2000s St. Paul’s was D2. They had a bunch of guys who were 2-3x state champions in D2. They moved to D1, and most of them either didn’t place or got 5th/6th in D1.

It’s still something to be proud of but it’s a different animal.
